Best wishes to Angie Brown, Beth Marshall and Rhonda Payne who are retiring after dedicating a total of 86 years to Gaylord Community Schools. South Maple Elementary students and staff have been inspired by their kindness and commitment to education.

NEMCSA Early Head Start is a no cost home visiting program, offered to expectant Mothers and Children birth to age three. We empower families, encourage school readiness, and assist with family support. If you or someone you know are interested in more information, please call Lori at 989 464 0051!

Students will receive one breakfast and lunch per day for the 2021-2022 school year at no cost. All 7-12 grade students may purchase an additional Ala carte item or entree. Gaylord Community Schools have mailed the free and reduced lunch applications. If your child qualifies, please fill out the application and return via mail, email, or applications may be done online by visiting www.gaylordschools.com. The applications will be saved and used to determine student eligibility for the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year.

• As many of you are aware morning and afternoon traffic is very congested in our area. Please drive safely and follow traffic laws.
• The student day will begin at 8:00AM and ends at 2:58PM. Students will not be allowed to enter the building before 8:00AM. Latchkey information is available at Latchkey
• Students will eat breakfast in their classroom.
• In an effort to keep traffic flowing efficiently, please do not arrive early for drop off or pick up. Please do not park in the traffic lane by the front sidewalk. Students must exit and enter vehicles on the school side. Please see dismissal attachment below.

If your child has any medications, Epi pen, or cough drops, these items will need to be picked up by Friday, June 11. Any medications not picked up at that time will be disposed of. We are not allowed to send any medications home with students.

If you have any of these changes (address, phone, or email) over the summer please stop into the District Office at 615 S. Elm Street, or call 989-705-3080. This will ensure you receive communications that go out prior to our office reopening for the 2022-23 school year. A proof of residency will be required for all address changes. Once proof of residency is provided you may also make a transportation change if your student uses GCS bussing.

The South Maple Elementary office is open to assist you Monday-Friday from 7AM-3:45PM.
