Note from Dr. Mullenschlader
We are completing the first week of Advent. A quick story, I had several students ask me about the Advent Wreath that we have in our Cafeteria. They asked me about the colored candles and what they mean. One little one said to me, "The pink candle means that Jesus is coming!" How beautiful is that recognition that a child sees the meaning of Advent? They know that Jesus is on his way to us. We aren't quite to the pink candle yet, which as you know, signifies us rejoicing in the third week of Advent. But, just like the other candles, it is a checkpoint for us on how clean our room is for Jesus. With the children here at school, we are focusing on simple acts of kindness in an effort to "keep our room clean." A few of the simple acts are letting others choose a game at recess, asking what someone else wants to talk about, and even saying kind words to each other. It is in the spirit of Advent and the next step on the path of sainthood. The children know Jesus is coming. They want to be ready. Have a blessed weekend!
One important reminder - If you are planning on volunteering for the Christmas parties on December 21st and you have not completed the Safe Environment: Prevent and Protect Training (Protecting God's Children), you have to complete it before the 21st. Any volunteer in our school has to complete this training. https://www.preventandprotectstl.org/
