Message To Families: Israeli-Hamas Response
We acknowledge the impact and effect of the Israeli-Hamas war on members of our local community, including our staff, students and their families. Our sincerest thoughts are with all impacted by this war.
In light of these recent events, we have provided our educators and staff with information and resources to support students who are grieving, upset or are feeling vulnerable due to these recent events. School staff are monitoring how students are processing this event and will offer them assurance, support, and encouragement when needed. Our primary objective is to ensure the safety and well-being of all members of our school community.
We are also including resources for families. Please talk with your student to understand what they are seeing and how they are feeling. Feel free to leverage the resources below to support these conversations.
Resources for Families
How to Talk to Kids About Violence, Crime, and War: Common Sense Media gathers tips and conversation starters to help you talk to kids of different ages about the toughest topics.
National Child Traumatic Stress Network: Provides resources that can be filtered by topic or keyword and by audience with a focus on how adults can identify traumatic responses in young people and how to support them.
We encourage families to reach out to your student’s teacher, counselor, or school administrator if you need further support.
We also want to emphasize that Naperville 203 is committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all students. Discrimination or bias, including anti-Semitism and Islamophobia, will not be tolerated within our schools. We will continue to uphold our policies and guidelines to protect students from discrimination of any kind. Now more than ever, it is crucial for us to come together as a community to support one another.
As we face the challenges of the world around us, let us remember the importance of unity within our school community. Together, we can demonstrate that our strength lies in our diversity, and that by working together, we can create an atmosphere of kindness, understanding, and support.
We wish our staff, students, and families strength, unity, and compassion during these challenging times.

Naperville 203 Annual Holiday Giving Program
As we begin preparing for the holiday season, we are thrilled to announce an exciting new format for our Holiday Giving program for our elementary students –GiftMart! GiftMart is a unique approach designed to bring smiles and a sense of pride to children in need during the holiday season.
Traditionally, our Holiday Giving program relied on sponsors buying gifts for specific students. While this approach was heartwarming and generous, we are introducing a fresh and empowering way to make the holidays special for a child in our district. Watch your email in the coming weeks for more information on this new program!
Volunteers Needed for NNHS Student Young Hearts for Life (YH4L) Screening
Volunteers are needed Oct 24 to make the NNHS Student YH4L a success. This simple, painless, and non-invasive ECG can detect approximately 70% of the heart conditions that are associated with SCD, while a pre-participation physical can only detect 4% of these conditions. The false positive rate for YH4L is less than 2%. Over 120 volunteers are needed to offer this potentially lifesaving service. Volunteers do NOT need medical experience. Volunteers will attend a brief volunteer training session the evening before, Monday 10/23/23 at NNHS.
Additional Information:
· Be sure to choose both the training session as well as desired shift on screening day.
· Full day volunteers will be provided a lunch.
· Thank you for your help! We could not offer this without the help of individuals in the community.
