Welcome Back
2023-2024 is going to be a great year!
Dear Teachers and Staff,
I hope each of you had a restful summer and took some time to connect with family and friends. As we start the new school year, I want to first reflect on last year and thank you for your tremendous dedication to the students. I continue to be impressed by your passion and hard work. I’m also proud of the work we’ve done as a school to ensure student academic growth. I am excited about all that this new school year has to offer and look forward to working with each of you as we focus on continuous learning.
I am ready to renew our commitment to excellence in all that we do, and an expectation that all students can learn and succeed. We will continue to provide students with opportunities to excel. Thank you again for all the dedication you put into this important work and to helping our students succeed. I have high hopes for what our students will be learning and accomplishing.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the newest members of our Davis Bilingual family. We are fortunate to have Sra. Dulce Balaban as our new 5th grade teacher. Sra. Balaban comes with many years of teaching experience and will be a great addition to our team. I would also like to welcome Alejandra Pulgarin as our new Magnet Coordinator. She too comes with many years of teaching experience and is an incredible asset to our school. Karen Gastelum was recently hired as our new Community Liaison. Her positive energy will be a great addition to our school community. Welcome to our Davis Bilingual family!
This year we will have a “Teacher Meet and Greet” on Wednesday, August 2nd from 2:00pm-3:00pm. Please do not feel you have to put together a special presentation for families. The objective of this time is to simply introduce yourselves. Additionally, students are given the opportunity to locate their new classroom which helps to reduce some nervousness on the first day of school. Feel free to share your back-to-school “wish list” with your families and any logistical information.
Please see below for our first few days back:
AGENDA (7/31-8/2):
Monday - Welcome & Meet new staff in the library from 8:15-9:15 am. Coffee and Donuts provided. The rest of the day is for classroom/lesson preparation.
Tuesday - Sra. Campillo’s presentation from 8:30-11:30am in the library. We will review compliance information as well as site/district initiatives. Lunch will be provided from 11:30-12:00pm. The rest of the day can be used for classroom/lesson preparation.
Wednesday - Teacher Meet & Greet from 2:00-3:00pm. The morning and afternoon can be used for classroom preparation.

Sincerely,
Marisela Campillo
