Our students had a busy and productive week!

We are so pleased that many of our students will be recognized this Monday for their poetry and art work to the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. contest.

We have been updating and reorganizing our school library - thank you to Mr. Ciancaglini and Mrs. Pohorence for doing this. We have weeded out many books due to their state and being out of date. Students have been sharing with me the types and genres of books they are interested in. We look forward to our Scholastic Book Fair in two weeks that will raise money to purchase new books and materials to make our books last longer. We are excited to announce our first monthly restaurant fundraiser will be Tuesday. The community is very supportive and interested in unique ways to help us. I hope you can participate. Also, spread the word.

Our 4th graders will have Mass this coming Friday (January 20th) with Fr. Mull at 8:30 am. All are welcome to join the 4th grade class.

Finally, we are very excited that Bishop Matano will be the celebrant of the Catholic Schools' Week Mass on Saturday, January 28 at 4:30 pm at St. Francis Church. We highly encourage everyone to attend this Mass. Students should wear their dress uniform.

These students will be recognized at the annual march and memorial service. See the flyer below for more information on that event.

The 3/4 coed team had the weekend off but the 5/6/7 Girls team and the 6/7/8 Boys team were back in Action.

The Girls cruised to victory over St. Louis on Saturday. The Crusaders were led by Olivia Tapscott with 15 points and Kate Good with 14 points. Molly Lamson added 4 points and Elizabeth Scibona chipped in with 2. Natalie Dorn and Francesca Calabrese provided strong defensive minutes to help the Crusaders stay undefeated. The girls will be back on the road again this week back versus St. Louis in Pittsford.

The 5/7/8 Boys dropped a tough one to St. John’s of Rochester 53-42. Turnovers made the difference in the game. The Crusaders were led by Nick Dorn with 14 points including a couple of 3 pointers. Max Delgado added 8, Dominic Petramale and Thomas Hutteman added 5 each and Roman Nearpass contributed 4 points. Matt Merkley, Jack Validzic and Caleb Dickson all provided good minutes on defense to keep the Crusaders in the game. The boys will be at home this weekend against St. Louis.

The 3/4 Coed team will be at home this weekend as well taking on St. Jerome’s of East Rochester.

CYO Spring Sports. The CYO will be doing kickball again this spring and will be adding Flag Football. More to follow.

I would like to share with you a letter from Bill Greco who is one of the chairs of the Family Fun Festival. It is very important that we have more people volunteer to help with this event. I thank all of the parents and families who have offered to captain a booth.

Hello everyone,

We are trying to get the festival up and running again, but this time it will also be a fundraiser for both St. Francis de Sales and St. Stephens Churches.

This year the festival will be held on Friday July 7th and Saturday July 8th at the Rec Center ( Ice Rink ) on Exchange St., the same weekend as the Fireman’s Parade and the Iron Man Event. They are expecting over 20,000 people in the city that weekend, so the festival has the potential to make a huge amount of money for both Churches and the School.

The new name of the festival will either be SF-SS Church’s Summertime Festival or Our Lady Of Peace Parish Summertime Festival.

We are having a meeting at the Parrish Center this Sunday at 6:30 pm. I know this is short notice but we are in desperate need of committee members. If you or anyone you know would like to be on the committee for this great event PLEASE, PLEASE let me know … I NEED YOU! If we don’t get the help we need by Jan. 28th all plans for the festival will be cancelled.

Here is a letter we received from St. Pauly Textile.

Happy New Year! We're excited to share with you the impact your clothing shed made over the last year...

• 59,948 pounds of clothing were donated to your shed in 2022.
• This was enough to clothe an estimated 11,043 people all over the world.
• Based on this volume of clothing, your organization received $2,397.92

Our donations make a difference to those in need and for our school. The shed is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. :)

Just to note that any bottle and can donations are being used to help offset the cost of the 8th grade class trip. Your donations can be made at school or the locations in the flyer. Please mention our school.

This week, your child/children brought home an invitation about the special person's lunch being held on Friday, February 3rd. There will be pasta, sauce, meatballs, and salad.

It should have looked like the image below and there was a tear off section to return to school with the name of the student, their guest, and if they were eating the provided lunch.
