Food Bank Design Winner
Junior, Hailey Barnhart entered a design for the Food Bank Logo contest. Her design was chosen and she received a Visa Card. Hailey was in the Valley Times Star for this accomplishment!

Big Spring Indoor Guard
Congratulations to the Indoor Color Guard team on earning Bronze at the KIDA Championships in Chambersburg. They were 3rd out of 12 groups in their division. This year their performance was called "Pages" and it was about Harry Potter.

Operation Beautiful Week
On Monday, the theme was Beautiful Messages. Club C.A.R.E. members wrote positive messages in chalk on the sidewalk and at lunches; other students could write too.
On Tuesday, the theme was Ultimate Raffle Prizes. At tables during lunches, there were makeup bags from Ulta and clothes from Under Armour available for both boys and girls.
On Wednesday, the theme was Instill Positive Thoughts. As part of the tradition, students could get Dove chocolate from a table at lunches that had positive messages in the wrappers. In addition, there were shirts with positive messages on them for raffle.
On Thursday, the theme was Lucky you. Every female in the school received a give-a-way during 4A. This year, the gift was socks!
On Friday, the theme was Dare to be yourself. Everyone was encouraged to wear a black t shirt. Also, there were post-its with positive messages written on them throughout the building.

FFA students go to South Central Region Public Speaking Competition
Our FFA students had a successful day at the South Central Region Public Speaking Competition in the contest areas of: Junior Prepared, Senior Prepared, and Conservation. The results are as follows:

USA Archery State Championship
Macey Davis, Sara Crouse, and Aidan Rauscher participated in the USA Archery State Championship in Harrisburg on April 7th and 8th.
Waterwheel Yearbook Recognition
Congratulations to the 2017 staff of Waterwheel, Big Spring High School's yearbook! Their excellence in photography was recognized in Balfour Publishing's annual Yearbook. This is the second consecutive year that Waterwheel earned honors from Balfour, one of the nation's leading publishers.

Students attend the Sea Air & Land Challenge
On April 24th, Wyatt Jones, Aidan Rauscher, Tobin Romito, and Bly Welker had an amazing run at the Sea Air and Land Challenge. These students worked together, as a team, to prepare their robot to achieve their goal of picking up and dropping 2 blocks in a course filled with crazy obstacles.
