Principal Updates
Dear Trailside Families,
Happy Sunday! The students did a great job getting back into the swing of things the first two days of school. The bus dismissal was smooth as well as pick up and drop off in both car loops. Thank you to all of the parent volunteers who came out to support our sixth grade students in their locker area.
Breakfast and Lunch: The federal program which covered breakfast and lunch for each child these past two years was not renewed for this year. There is the free and reduced lunch program which is based on family size and income. Otherwise, students are required to pay for cafeteria breakfast and lunch. We also have available snack items such as chips, ice cream, and cookies. Th snack items are not included in the lunch meal. Parents, please double check with your children as to whether they may purchase these items.

Medications
News from Nurse Newton: I will begin accepting Allergy, Asthma, Diabetes and Seizure physician orders and medication effective Tuesday August 16. No appointments necessary but please be prepared to wait if it is busy. Please make sure that medication is in its original package with the prescription label attached and is unexpired. You must provide both epi pens in the package. You can also drop off Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen products. They must be in their original packaging, no pills in baggies! All paperwork is on the Trailside Website under the Families tab, then medication at school, then health documents.

Cell Phone Expectations at Trailside
In addition, research has outlined the detrimental impact on children regarding access and use of a smart phone at a young age (prior to 8th grade). I encourage you to click on the following link and to consider the Pledge: Wait Until 8! I found the testimonials from executives at Google and Large Tech companies to be impactful. https://www.waituntil8th.org/
