Week at Windsor 12.1.19
Looking back and ahead at Windsor news and happenings...
Dear Windsor Families,
We hope this weekend's message finds you well and that you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and break. Here is our Week at Windsor.
Author Ruth Spiro
Many thanks to our Windsor PTA for helping to sponsor an author visit with Ruth Spiro this Thursday and to Mrs. Komarek for helping to coordinate this special opportunity. She will be presenting three times to grades K-5 students. We are looking forward to learning more about her books and creative writing process!
McAllister's Dine & Share
This Thursday is our next Windsor PTA Dine and Share from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at McAllister's in Mount Prospect. This is always a great way to enjoy an easy meal out and support our PTA at the same time. We hope to see you there!
The District 25 assessment window for the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) and FastBridge open on December 2nd. Students will be testing throughout the weeks leading up to Winter Break in both reading and math. Classroom teachers will help children know specific testing days. Here is a previously shared assessment overview letter with grade level information for your reference. Getting a good night's sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, and coming to school on time help children be their best and maximize their learning potential every day. The District window closes at the end of December, so NWEA MAP results will go home with children in January.
It is difficult to believe we are already into the month of December. We are so thankful to our school community for your ongoing support. Traditionally, this month is always busy and fun-filled, both at school and at home. We are looking forward to welcoming students and staff back to school tomorrow and to the days and weeks ahead!
Warmest regards,
Piper Boston, Principal @PrincipalBoston
Lindsay Anastacio, Assistant Principal @lindzana

Be a Part of Something Great! ABC/25
Ever wonder where those Coding Dash and Dots, BeeBots and Portable STEM Carts came from...grants made possible by the ABC/25 Foundation! The ABC/25 Foundation is a non-for-profit organization founded by a group of caring parents to give A Better Community for District 25 by fostering innovation, creativity and excellence in our schools. Over the past 24 years, the Foundation has raised and contributed over one million dollars to fund numerous projects and grants for District 25 which directly impact students and teachers!
Are you a member of the ABC/25 Foundation? If not, you're missing out on an amazing way to support the D25 schools! Proceeds from the $40 family memberships go directly to fund grants that allow D25 teachers and staff to access tools and resources that aren't available through curriculum budgets. Learn more about the wonderful things ABC/25 is doing in our community at www.abc25.org and become a member here! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to ABC/25 Windsor Liaison, Elyse Coval at elysecoval@hotmail.com.

Morning Arrival/Drop & Go Reminders
As the weather is turning colder, we are seeing an increase in our morning drop off traffic. To make arrival time safe and efficient, we are re-sharing our procedures. (Please help make sure any family or friends helping for the first time understand them as well.) Here are some important reminders based on observations and concerns.
- Cars may not park or stop in crosswalks. While a crossing guard is on duty, both pedestrians and cars need to follow his/or her direction. They serve an important role ensuring our children are safe on their way to and from school.
- Please always pull all the way up in either Drop & Go line. For Windsor Drive, especially, please wait in cars until you are able to pull up past the first drop off sign (before the drive/bike rack door). We feel letting children out so near the Miner crosswalk is dangerous, as it can easily gets backed up.
- If the weather is inclement, students can go in the closest door to their Drop & Go spot. Please do not try to stop perfectly at your child's entrance, as it can back up the Drop & Go line for all.
- Finally, make sure your child is ready to depart the car quickly and independently each morning.
Again, we so appreciate your assistance in making our Drop & Go time as safe, efficient, and stress free as possible for all!
