April is School Library Month

Students select a novel that they have studied or read and create an electronic book trailer. Students will have to work in pairs for this project. The deadline to submit the trailer on Edmodo is at 11:59 p.m. on April 30, 2016. Trailers from students who do not follow the criteria will not be entered into the competition.

The winners each receive an ipad mini! Don't wait, see Mrs. Ornes for details!

Where will we get next year's bookmarks? From you! Join the KHS Library Bookmark Contest. Here are the rules: Bookmarks must be student original work, should be drawn on 2" x 7" paper, and design must convey the theme "School Libraries Transform Learning" The top ten bookmarks will be used in the library next year. The artists of the top three designs will win exciting prizes. Turn in completed bookmarks to Mrs Ornes by April 30.

Okay, Homerooms - help celebrate library month by decorating your door! The theme is "School Libraries Transform Learning". Don't wait until the last minute. Door judging will take place at the end of the month. Good Luck!

How to Earn Raffle Tickets:

• 1 AR Quiz (85% or higher) = 1 Raffle Ticket (Please print out TOPS Report and give it to Mrs. Ornes).
  • Your book doesn't have an AR Quiz? Do a book report.
  • 1 Book Report = One Raffle Ticket
• 4 Achieve3000 articles (75% or higher) = 1 Raffle Ticket. (You do not need to print these out, but you DO need to let Mrs. Ornes know if you would like her to monitor your Achieve3000 progress.)

Number of Raffle Tickets:

• You need to earn 15 tickets to automatically be chosen to go to the movies.

Transportation Costs:

• PSS buses are not free anymore. Cost is $2.00 per student.

Movie Date: May 6.
