Laker Hockey Begins First Season

Rochester's First Varsity Women's Hockey Season Begins their 2023-2024 Campaign
The combined Women's Hockey team played their first ever game Wednesday evening hosting powerhouse Ithaca. Titan Sophomore Jessica N. scored the first goal in Webster Lakers history. Samantha C added a goal as well. 8th grader Mia W played in net for the Lakers. The team lost 7-2 but have begun their historic and inaugural season. Enjoy some pictures from their first game!

Indoor Track
The Indoor Track team had a successful weekend opener at Nazareth Saturday. Jada K came in 2nd in the 55 hurdles running a 9.39, an all time personal best. Jenna D tied for 1st in the pole vault. Jane C won shot put and placed 2nd in weight throw with Dani P placing 3rd. Khimere J placed 3rd in the 55m. Brendan H placed 3rd in high jump with Gianna L placing 2nd. Aidyn H won pole vault and set a new school record at 12'6".
The team competes at Nazareth again this Saturday.
Bowling
Both the Boys and Girls took a loss Tuesday evening vs a very strong Victor team.
Despite the loss the teams bowled very well.
High scores for the girls included:Ashley S - 169 NEW HIGH GAME;
Mary E with a 168;and Emily S with a 160. High scores for the Boys included :Cayden G with a 198, 234, and 229 for a 661 series; Max V with a 235; Jaedon M with a 199, 188, and 202 for a 589 series;
Evan G with a 226 and 191;and Joey D with a 207.
Boys Basketball
The Thomas Titan Men's Basketball team lost a hard fought game to defending state champs Victor on Friday night. The Titans led by 4 at the half but were unable to hold on in the second half. Shane T. paced the Titans with 19 points. Levi K. added 11 points and 5 assists. The boys are back in action this Friday at Rush Henrietta.
Girls Basketball
The Girls traveled to Canandaigua last Saturday and came up on the short end of a 58-41 score. Kristina B had 13 points and Olivia B had 11points. The girls will next be in action in Fairport Friday night.
Wrestling
The Wrestlers had a great weekend last week winning the Penfield Hunter Tournament. The team scored 185.5 points with the next closest team scoring 145. Connor G (108), Cameron G(116) and Collin M (131) each earned 1st place honors, Eric M. (138), Jon S (160) and Anthony C (285) earned 3rd place honors.
They continued their winning ways Tuesday evening with a match at Irondequoit. The Titans continued the winning ways with a 64-6 victory. Brian M (138) scored a technical fall 18-2. Nolan B (145) had a pin. Jonathan S (160) scored a 9-0 major decision Tyler S (215) had a 3-1 decision. Anthony C (285) scored a pin Cameron G (116) earned a 12-0 major decision. Landon M had a pin.
Next up for the Titans is the Monroe County Wrestling Tournament at Webster Schroeder This weekend.
Boys Swimming
The Lakers started their season off with a 96-69 win over visiting Irondequoit Tuesday evening. Micha S took 1st in the 50 Freestyle with a 23.42 time. Jack F had 1st in both the 110 Freestyle and the 200 individual medley with a 51.46 and 2:12.18 respectively. Jon M had a 56.99 in the 100 fly for a first place finish. Caleb C won the 200 freestyle with a 1:56.33. Joshua W won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:53.12. The 200 freestyle relay team took first with a 1:37.80 time. And the 200 medley relay team took first with a time of 1:54.54.
The Lakers hosted Brighton Thursday night. They won the meet 108-75. Jack F won both the 110 fly and 100 backstroke with a 54.14 and 57.74 respectively. Micha S won the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.34. Makism A won the 100 freestyle with a 51.33 time. Jon M won the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 breaststroke with a time of 2:09.35 and 1:08.40. The 400 freestyle relay team won with a time of 3:29.94. The 200 freestyle relay team won with a time of 1:37.14. And the 200 medley relay team won with a time of 1:47.54.
Men's Hockey
The Titans played a tough Pittsford Team Tuesday evening. They kept the game close through the first 2 periods, 2-1, but Pittsford scored 2 more in the 3rd to win 4-1.
Taya Masters Nordic Ski
Taya Masters is one of the top skiers for Webster that will be scoring often for our team. She is dedicated to the team and her own personal excellence and she continues to refine her skill and strategy increasing her competitive involvement in the sport and pushing our girls team up the ranks. She also is involved in Varsity Tennis, Programming club, Science Olympiad, Math League. Community service, while maintaining a very high GPA.
Jason Bradbury Bowling
Jason has become a leader and a role model for the bowling team. His hard work and dedication to the sport inspires others to excel on and off the lanes. At every practice and match, Jason helps his teammates with practice drills and lane play. Jason is involved in multiple activities within Thomas and is a prime example of what it means to be a Titan Athlete.
Titan Updates
Webster Thomas’ Math League
Webster Thomas’ Math League continued its mathematical season last night. Our A Team had a perfect Team Round and scored a total of 36 points for the meet. Leading the way for the Thomas Titans in the individual rounds were Jenna D., Forrest L., Logan P. and Alex W. scoring 5 points each. Great job all mathletes!!!
Titan Service Scholars Out in the Community.
Last Saturday. our Service Scholars spent the day at Kittleberger in their Annual Jingle Mingle to raise money for their service trips to the Dominican Republic in December and July. Thank you to all who cam came out to support and to our musicians who lent their talents to add a festive tone to the day.
Speaking of the Service Scholars...today they teamed up with our new UPK program to brighten the days of the residents of the Maplewood Nursing Home. By all accounts, they were a big hit!!
It's Winter Music Week here at Thomas!
Congratulations to the Thomas Concert Orchestra, Chorale, Treble Choir, Sound Go BOOM, and Concert Band on an outstanding concert performance this week. Winter Music Week will conclude on Monday, December 18 with the Thomas Jazz Band and Jazz Ensemble performing our final concert of 2023 at 7:00pm in the Thomas Auditorium.
The Tri-M National Music Honor Society is still collecting socks for our Winter Concert Sock Drive! Please help support Tri-M and our greater Rochester community by bringing a new pair of socks to donate at our concerts. Sock donations can also be dropped off this week in the teacher mailroom and in the Band Room. Sock donations will be delivered to St. Joseph's House of Hospitality.

December Spirit Week
Next week is our last week of school before Winter break and we are encouraging everyone to join us in celebrating the holidays by dressing in theme.
Staff and Students will have the same themes each day next week.
This Monday will be a merry day for everyone to wear their class color and holiday headgear of your choice. Faculty and staff will be dressing in their faculty team colors too.
Tuesday is fa - la - la - la - lannel day. Wear your favorite flannel or buffalo plaid.
Wednesday will be Winter Wonderland so wear white.
Thursday is ugly sweater day. Bring out the best-worst holiday outfits.
Friday is Polar Express day. Wear your favorite cozy pajamas and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate complements of PTSA.
Student Council will be showing movies in the cafeteria during lunches as we wrap up 2023.
We're looking forward to seeing everyone in the holiday spirit next week.
