Enrollment Update
Enrollment for the first day of school shows 1,854 students in grades K-8 attending D103 schools.
Contractual Custodial Services
Administration received the Board’s approval to go out to bid for custodial services for a few positions for the school year. The district has had difficulty recruiting and retaining individuals in this position, a problem not isolated to our district. Knowing the importance of maintaining a clean environment in the upcoming year and in order to have adequate coverage, the district will go out to bid for a custodial vendor to help support the existing custodial crew.
Professional Development
The district offered several professional development opportunities to kick off the school year.
Orange Frog Training: The workshop participants learned about the benefits of positive psychology and its effects on peoples’ personal and professional lives.
Kagan Training: The workshop shared positive, research based classroom strategies with participants.
New Staff Orientation: The new staff orientation included introductions to district and building administration, engagement strategies, PowerSchool, as well as members of PTO, Board of Education, and the Association.
MAP Testing
Students in Grades 1-8 participate in MAP (the Measure of Academic Progress) at the beginning of the school year. MAP is a computerized adaptive test, which helps teachers, parents, and administrators improve learning for all students and make informed decisions to promote a child's academic growth.
Busing Route Changes
Transportation has had to make changes to some routes, which may affect the pick up and drop off times for buses. Please check your child's Unified Classroom account after 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, for changes that will take place on Monday. Buses may run late picking up and dropping off students as we navigate routes the first few weeks of school. Please be patient with us.
