TVUSD COMMUNITY CONNECTION

OCTOBER 17, 2022
Message from Dr. McClay
October 17, 2022
Greetings TVUSD!
We continue to be so impressed with everything going on in our schools and classrooms! In fact, both the instruction and climate on our campuses has never been better! Our teachers and staff are laser-focused on delivering high-quality lessons tailored to student needs. And our students are engaged not only in academics but also the myriad activities, athletics, and extra-curriculars we pride ourselves on.
I had the pleasure of meeting with our Superintendent’s Staff Council and Superintendent’s Student Council these past two weeks. These groups represent their entire campuses and provide input on what is working well at their schools and what needs addressing. Overall, students and staff report exceptional feeling tones at each school. This is a tribute to our administrators, staff, and parent support groups, so thank you!
Elementary parents had an opportunity to attend parent conferences last week and see some of the amazing progress our students are making. Middle and high school parents are enjoying games and concerts while supporting students with class projects, and assisting our seniors with college applications! It’s a busy time!
As always, there is a lot in this week’s newsletter. We hope you find the glimpse into our schools enjoyable.
Warmly,
Jodi McClay, Ed.D.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH AND BOARD RECOGNITIONS
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT
Biosustainability is an elective science course at Temecula Valley High School. During the 2022/23 school year, Biosustainability students are completing the rebuild of the aquaponic system inside of the student built greenhouse on campus. Biosustainability students develop plans, build system components, troubleshoot problems and manage the system daily to produce fresh, organically grown produce. The produce and tilapia grown in the system are used by TVHS Culinary Arts students and donated to our local food banks. Classroom time is spent learning about sustainable approaches to food, energy and commerce.

NEED TO KNOW
October is National Bullying Prevention Month.
Please take a moment to read this month's SEL Team Newsletter, Let's Talk Bullying, which highlights all of the important information you need on this topic. The more we all know about bullying, how to recognize it, and how to support our students in managing their behavior, the less bullying will occur. Schools without bullying are the best places for student learning to occur. Please reach out to the SEL Team member at your site if you have any questions about this newsletter or need any social-emotional support for your child.
Family University Feedback Form
TVUSD's Student Welfare & Success department works hard to provide strategies, skills, and resources to our students, staff, and family members. This year, we're hoping you can help by sharing your feedback specifically about Family University. Please take a moment to provide your insight on this program. All the information you share will help us to plan presentations that are the most impactful for TVUSD. Thank you for the 2-3 minutes of your time that will be needed to complete this survey.
