There will be a PSAT Informational meeting–November 28th.

Meeting will go over how to interpret and use the results to prepare for the SAT or ACT.

IF you have questions about the SAT or ACT including; When or how to sign up? Which ones should I take? Come to this meeting and we will answer ALL your questions.

We get a lot of the same questions over and over and it is more efficient to answer questions for all.

IF you can’t attend the meeting, the information will be posted on the College and Career page of the Sequoia High School website.

Sequoia is offering the School Day SAT on April 3rd

REQUIREMENTSFOR SCHOOL DAY SAT on APRIL 3rd::
Only current SHS 11th-graders are eligible.
Only students can complete this form and MUST use their Sequoia email.

By completing the form above, students understand the following:

• All students will pay $25 by cash or check with Ms. Gordon in the Treasurer's Office or by credit card through My School Bucks by January 19, 2024 to hold their spot. The money is non-refundable. If paying for the test is an issue, please email Ms. Yeager.
• All students will attend a FLEX or Lunch Time meeting to complete the pre-administration session.
• All students will report to Gym 1 on Wednesday April 3rd at 7:30am to begin testing at 8:00am.

How to Access Your Scores

View your score on BigFuture School. If you provided your mobile number on test day, you'll receive a text message with access to the BigFuture School mobile app.

As always, you may view your scores online by creating a College Board Account. If you have trouble accessing your account, call Customer Service at 866-630-9305.

Once you've received your scores, learn how you can use your scores for practice, scholarship opportunities, and more in the Resources section of the BigFuture app.

For Juniors with a 3.5 GPA, from low-income backgrounds and first generation students. Free summer program at Princeton and support throughout college. This is a competitive process that takes some time to apply. If you need help, come into the College and Career Center. Go here to find out more.

Ms Ignaitis is looking for a student (you could have a friend too) to run the clock for the boys basketball home games (usually once or twice a week after-school). Student needs to be responsible, accurate, work well under pressure. Last two students did this all four years and did not know anything about basketball. If interested, email Ms Ignaitis as soon as possible.

This is a great opportunity for SHS students to be matched with a younger student to tutor once or twice a week.

All entries will be recognized for their artistic achievement. Participation itself is a meaningful contribution to the Sequoia community! First-place finishers in each category enter the district competition, district winners move on to the state competition, and state winners move on to compete nationally.

The Patricia Grodd Poetry Prize, created to recognize outstanding young poets, is open to high school sophomores and juniors.

The winner receives a full scholarship to the 2023 Kenyon Review Young Writers Workshop next summer. The winner and two runners-up will have their selected poems published in the print edition of the Kenyon Review and on our website.

Veterinary Technologists and Technicians

Working under the guidance of licensed veterinarians, these professionals conduct procedures like X-rays, blood counts, and urinalysis to diagnose animal illnesses and injuries. Veterinary technologists and technicians also assist with surgical procedures, administering anesthesia and monitoring the animal's condition. Technicians usually work in private practices, while technologists typically focus on laboratory research.

Home Health and Personal Care Aides

These professionals help older adults and disabled individuals perform daily tasks like bathing, buying groceries, and washing their clothes. While personal care aides are limited to nonmedical tasks, home health aides can check a client's vitals and give them medication as directed by nurses or other healthcare practitioners.

Forest Fire Inspectors and Prevention Specialists

Forest fire inspectors and prevention specialists patrol residential and public outdoor areas to look for potential hazards, including human-made and naturally occurring wildfire risks. These professionals report conditions back to their central command, preparing to address the hazards as necessary. The majority of inspectors and preventionists work for government agencies at the local and state levels.

Respiratory Therapists

Respiratory therapists support patients with emphysema and asthma, as well as infants whose lungs have not fully developed. They can also work as part of an emergency care team, treating people suffering from shock and heart attacks. Respiratory therapists collaborate with doctors to develop treatment plans, which can include treatments like aerosol medications and chest physiotherapy.

Animal Caretakers

Animal caretakers water, feed, bathe, groom, and exercise pets and nonfarm animals. They also perform routine checkups, looking for signs of illness or injury and recording the information on detailed reports. About a quarter of animal caretakers are self-employed, with the remaining professionals working for pet stores, veterinary clinics, animal shelters, and zoos.

From Federal Student Aid

The U.S. Department of Education’s federal student loan program is the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program. Under this program, the U.S. Department of Education is your lender. There are four types of Direct Loans available:

• Direct Subsidized Loans are loans made to eligible undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need to help cover the costs of higher education at a college or career school.

• Direct Unsubsidized Loans are loans made to eligible undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, but eligibility is not based on financial need.

• Direct PLUS Loans are loans made to graduate or professional students and parents of dependent undergraduate students to help pay for education expenses not covered by other financial aid. Eligibility is not based on financial need, but a credit check is required. Borrowers who have an adverse credit history must meet additional requirements to qualify.

• Direct Consolidation Loans allow you to combine all of your eligible federal student loans into a single loan with a single loan servicer.
