Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences
The scheduling for Blackhawk Parent Teacher Conferences has begun. Please go to MyConferenceTime to schedule your child's conference with one of your child's teachers (see link below). Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on Thursday October 20th from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Friday October 21st from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Please indicate any language support you might need for this conference when you book your appointment. If you cannot make an in-person conference, you may indicate that a virtual zoom meeting would be better. Our goal is to have our teachers meet with 100 percent of our families during these conferences. Please help us meet our goal!
Illinois Assessment of Readiness Performance Results
This week, all District 2 schools are sending home the Illinois Assessment for Readiness (IAR) test results from last spring. This rigorous assessment is tightly aligned to the Illinois Teaching Standards and provides a projection of your child's college and career readiness. Middle school is often the time that students and families begin to narrow in on a students' preparedness for college.
The score shared in this IAR report is an estimated projection of your child's learning level. You will notice five different potential performance levels listed. Your child's score is placed on the right side of the levels chart. Additionally, you will see the percentage of students in the state that scored at each of the five levels and the Illinois state average.
Blackhawk PTO Update
This Halloween party will feature a DJ as well as a costume party with prizes. Students are encouraged but not required to dress in a Halloween costume. We ask that faces are not completely covered by a mask or makeup to keep everyone safe. There will be a photo booth to capture the fun for students. Students will be permitted to use their phones only when they are actively engaged in the photo booth. Students are required to present their ID upon entry to this event.
Please consider supporting the PTO if you are already an Amazon user through the Amazon Smile program (see link below). Join us for our next PTO meeting on Thursday November 10th to discuss future plans for our school.
