PUSD's Final Reopening Stages for 2020-2021
Additional COVID Funds and Expanded Learning Opportunities Meeting
Due to additional COVID funding from both the state and federal governments, we are able to fund additional priorities. We are happy to share that for 2021-22, we are planning to:
- Keep the X-ploration program to provide art, music, STEM, and P.E. for all elementary students
- Expand Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Science, Technology, Engineering, Math curriculum, TK-12
- Hire additional/expand hours for counselors, social workers, psychologists, and student support specialists
- Temporarily decrease class sizes for 4th grade and above, to ensure physical distancing as we fully reopen next school year
- Offer summer school options K-12, and free summer enrichment opportunities for students
- Continue providing high-quality professional development and support for teachers and staff in inclusive practices, blended learning, differentiated instruction, and racial equity
You can also add your thoughts and feedback on "Additional strategies you would like to see implemented or expanded to support student learning and well-being next year" by going to the survey here until Tuesday, May 5 at 11:59pm.

Secondary Reopening
We moved forward in our reopening plans, and welcomed secondary students of ALL GRADES back on campus in March. Campuses are open for the four days-per-week A/B concurrent learning schedule. As part of this approach, on-campus students are able to interact with teachers and peers while virtual students learn simultaneously at home.
We so enjoyed seeing our students back on campus and appreciate the members of #TeamPUSD who made the expansion of in-person learning possible. We couldn’t have done it without their efforts.
Westwood Elementary Time Capsule is Opened
It was just as Ken and Suzie remembered: photos of close friends and favorite teachers, letters from classmates about future technology, first edition prints of the “Westwood Press,” memories from school plays, artwork and more. It was a joy to see memories through the eyes of those who experienced them.
