Principal's Weekly Update
Week of September 18th-22nd
Principal's Notes
Dear Families,
Thank you to all the families who attended our Back to School Night. It was nice meeting so many of you and having a chance to talk with families about their children and experiences at Holy Name. Please remember to return the envelope with forms that were provided last night. The Title I and Home Language Survey provide us with essential funding to support our programs at school. Students are entitled to these funds but they cannot be accessed without this paperwork.
The entire school community celebrated mass at Holy Name Church on Thursday. The students were so respectful and reverent during mass. We were all very proud. It was a great way to officially start off the school year.
Our 7th and 8th grade students started their first week of the Fill the Math GAPS program. All of our students have started the first week of MAP testing. This data will be used to help inform decisions about our curriculum throughout the year.
Oktoberfest is just around the corner on October 21st. We are in need of volunteers to help set up and work on the day of the festival. Oktoberfest is our largest fundraiser of the year and goes towards keeping tuition affordable for families. Please consider volunteering some of your time.
As a reminder, Thursday is an early release for teacher professional development. Students will be dismissed at 11:30. There will be no extended care on that day.
Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Megan dos Santos

Holy Name's Got Talent!
Holy Name's Got Talent! On October 21st, our students will have the chance to present a Talent Show at Oktoberfest. Signups will take place on Monday and Tuesday of this coming week. Auditions will be taking place after school on 9/26 with Mrs. Tavares in the gym. All students from Grades 2-8 are welcome to prepare, and perform their special gift or talent alone or with friends. Up to four people will be allowed per act, and song lyrics must be approved beforehand by Mrs. Tavares. Music must be presented before or at the time of the audition. Auditions will take place between 2:30-4:30p in the gym, and sign up times are first come first serve. For any questions, please contact Mrs. Tavares.
Oktoberfest-Volunteers Needed
We need your help! Parents are needed to help volunteer at our Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 21st. Sign-ups take place at Back to School Night or can be done by emailing oktoberfest@holynamefr.org. Our next planning meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 9/26 at 6 p.m. in the parish center.
Holy Name Church - Youth Choir
The Holy Name Youth Choir is a great opportunity for those students in the parish who love to sing. In addition to being introduced to some of the standard hymn repertoire, members learn basic fundamentals of singing and the role that the choir plays at Mass. The Youth Choir will sing at select celebrations throughout the school year, two of which that are coming up are the Family Mass of Thanksgiving (night before Thanksgiving) and the 4pm Christmas Eve Mass. Rehearsals will be on Saturdays at 12pm in the church starting October 7. If your child is interested, please contact Erik Thompson at music@holynamefr.com.
