Is your student's information up to date?
Time to verify your information in our system. Are you wondering if your information is complete? Eighty-six students have emergency contacts listed without phone numbers. It would be hard to reach them.
Log into ParentVUE and review/update your students' information through the Register/Verify tab. If you have forgotten your ParentVUE password, go to the login page, click "I am a Parent," then click "Forgot Password." Contact your student's school if you need clarification on whether you have a ParentVUE account. For assistance with the verification process, refer to the user guide on the LOSD website or contact your student's school.
CommuniCare
The students in Link Crew Leadership class have been working with CommuniCare, a youth grantmaking program of The Harold & Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation. Through this program, the class selects an area of focus and donates money to nonprofit organizations working towards their chosen service area. Student groups are guaranteed $7,500 from The CARE Foundation for their grantmaking and can double those funds by raising an additional $750, which CARE matches 10:1, up to a maximum gift of $15,000. The class has been collecting our school's cans and bottles all year and we exceeded our fundraising goal, resulting in a total of $17,070 for grants!
Our class chose to donate to nonprofits who provide shelter and mental health services to homeless youth in the Portland Metro Area. This year, we are donating $10,070 to Janus Youth Programs and $7,000 to Transition Projects.
ACS Mock Interview Program
As a culmination of their ACS class, LOHS freshmen create a resume and learn how to interview for an entry-level job. We need many volunteers to make this an effective program and empower our students with practical skills. This is one of the few volunteer opportunities that enables you to be in the classroom at LOHS. We will be hosting the ACS Mock Interview program for six ACS periods of second semester students from May 18-23, 2023 in person at Lake Oswego High School.
Volunteers on Thursday and Friday, May 18 and 19, will work with small groups of students in the classroom to practice for a job interview with a pre-set curriculum. Volunteers on Monday and Tuesday, May 22 and 23, will interview students individually for a typical entry-level high school job.
To volunteer, please complete two steps:
1. Sign up for Mock Interview Program volunteer slots here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0B4EADAC2CA6F49-lohs5
2. Complete a volunteer background check if you have not completed one this school year (check boxes for all schools where you would like to volunteer) here. It only takes 5 minutes to complete but can take a few weeks to get approved, so please complete it ASAP: https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/MjIwOTplbi1VUw==
Please reach out to Kristy Cory with questions at kristycory@gmail.com or lakersacsinterviews@gmail.com.
Do you have a child graduating from LOHS?
Join us for a free parent education class and get five legal documents ready that will help you if your child plans on leaving for college!
Presented by past LOHS parent and attorney Michelle-Shari Kruss
When: 5/2/23
Time: 5:30-6:30
Where: Lake Oswego High School Cafeteria
Senior year is a whirlwind filled with visiting colleges, planning and participating in a myriad of senior activities, AP exams, and more. As a family, you have asked and answered questions like, “What college should our soon-to-be graduate go to, or what equally exciting alternative adventure awaits? For the past 18 years, you have been able to be involved in every facet of making these and other important decisions.
Unfortunately, once your child turns 18 they are considered an adult in the eyes of the law. As such, a parent's legal ability to assist with; a medical decision, communicate with a child's physician, negotiate/inquire with an insurance company, address a financial transaction, represent a child in a legal matter, dispute a fraud, transfer medical records, deal with a digital asset (computers, logins, online banking, iCloud, etc.) or speak with academics ends.
You can still have a seat at the table. But to do so you need to complete a few very important legal documents.
Michelle-Shari will be sharing some very eye-opening stories of her young adult clients who have needed one or more of these legal documents.
- Power of Attorney for Health. Physician Advance Directive
- Power of Attorney for Finance
- HIPAA Release Form
- FERPA
- Digital Asset Worksheet
- Temporary Guardianship Affidavit for those of us who will not be empty nesters and still have a minor child at home.
Everyone is welcome. Come with your questions. Handouts will be provided.

Ways to report incidents related to bias, racism or harassment in losd
Parents-guardians who have concerns about a student’s well-being are encouraged to reach out to their principal, and to maintain strong lines of communication and partnership between students, families, staff, and other resources. SafeOregon is also an effective way to report a tip regarding safety threats or potential acts of violence to our students or schools. Students should also be aware that intentionally providing a false report is a serious offense. https://www.safeoregon.com/
In addition, below are reporting methods for parents-guardians or students to use to report issues related to racist, bias, or harassment incidents.
