Miller Families:
As we head into Spring Break, I want to take a moment to thank you for being such an important part of our Miller community. The support, kindness, and dedication you show—whether through encouraging your students, partnering with our staff, or simply being engaged in our school—make all the difference.
Spring Break is a time to recharge, reflect, and spend time with loved ones. I hope this break brings your family moments of joy, rest, and connection. Whether you're traveling, spending time outdoors, or just enjoying a slower pace, I encourage you to embrace the pause and make wonderful memories together.
When we return, we’ll be in the final stretch of the school year—ready to finish strong with the fourth quarter! Until then, enjoy your well-deserved break, stay safe, and we look forward to seeing everyone back refreshed and ready for an amazing finish to the year.

Important Reminder - Student Dismissal Expectations
We have noticed that again an increasing number of students remaining in front of the school after the end of the instructional day. Many of these students are lingering to socialize without involved in an on campus activity or working with a teacher.
To ensure a safe and orderly environment, please note the following expectations:
- All students not participating in after-school activities must clear campus by 2:30 PM.
- Students participating in after-school activities must clear campus by 3:30 PM.
- Students attending a sporting event or evening activity must clear campus within 15 minutes of the conclusion of that event.
If transportation cannot be arranged for your student within these times, consider utilizing Henderson Teen Scene, a great resource for supervised after-school care. This service takes place ON CAMPUS and is facilitated by our community partners at Henderson Parks and Recreation.
Your child's safety remains our utmost priority. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work to maintain a secure campus environment.

Music In Our Schools Month®
For 40 years, March has been designated by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) as Music In Our Schools Month® (MIOSM®). The positive impact of music education in the lives of students lasts a lifetime. Therefore, ensuring equitable access to music education for the youngest members of our society—students—is paramount.
Every day, in classrooms and rehearsal rooms across our school district, music educators dedicate themselves to reaching all students with life-changing musical experiences. Parents, administrators, and the wider community often only see the wonderful results of music performances; however, we miss the months of practice and rehearsals and more importantly the learning process that takes place to make it all happen.
Members of our community are encouraged to acknowledge and celebrate music education as an essential part of every student’s educational journey.
We encourage you to share your own personal experience of the impact music education has had on your life: Music Testimonial

First Period Tardies
A friendly reminder: School starts promptly at 8:00 AM. First-period tardies are disproportionately high. These late arrivals can disrupt the learning environment and add unnecessary stress for everyone involved. We kindly ask for your help to ensure your child arrives on time, ready to start their day. Thank you for partnering with us to support a positive and productive learning experience!
Las Vegas Review-Journal Academic Excellence Awards
Each year the Las Vegas Review-Journal sponsors and holds the Academic Excellence Awards. This program recognizes exceptional students in grades 1 through 12 across Southern Nevada who stand out for their academic achievements, leadership, citizenship, and community involvement.

- A custom Academic Excellence Award

Student Absence Notifications
Bob Miller Middle School uses an automated system to call home when students are reported absent or tardy from a single period during the school day. The purpose of this recorded message is to remind parents to send in an absence note to the school’s attendance office.
The preferred way to notify the school when your child is absent is to fill out the online absence note found on the school's website at bobmillerms.com or the above link. Please allow 24-48 hours for processing. Parents/guardians will most likely still receive a phone call, text, and/or email from the school notifying them of their child's absence even after you fill out this form. If the absence is still not updated in Infinite Campus after 48 hours, please contact our attendance clerk, Jeannie Galvin, via email at galvijd@nv.ccsd.net or by phone at (702) 799-2260, extension 4300. If you are unable to access the online absence note, please send a written note with your child's full name to be turned into the basket located in the Counseling Office. Please do not send absence notes in via email as this may results in a delayed response.
Every Day Matters Campaign
During the previous academic year, the Clark County School District (CCSD) experienced a chronic absenteeism rate of 36 percent. That means one out of every three students was absent from school 10 percent or more of enrolled days for any reason.
Why it matters: It’s an issue we must address head-on and with urgency. When students miss classroom instruction, it hurts their student success, affecting their grades and social development.
But there is encouraging news we would like to share. CCSD has launched a campaign, Every Day Matters, that will use a strategic approach to improve student attendance.
This campaign will be a communitywide effort, involving nonprofit organizations, businesses, and local governments that partner with CCSD. For us to get students to regularly attend school, however, the fact is it will depend on you and your child.
In the weeks and months ahead, our school and CCSD will be offering tips and strategies that you can use to get your child excited about going to school. If you are concerned about your child’s attendance, request a meeting with school counselors or an administrator so we can work on making progress.
For information on CCSD attendance policies and resources, visit everyday.ccsd.net
