Trivium Academy Weekly Newsletter-Week of Sept 16th
Matthew Morgan-8th Grade Math/Algebra I
College: University of North Texas – BS Mathematics
Teaching History: I worked for Grand Prairie ISD for five years before moving to Trivium. These last few weeks been simultaneously the best I have felt and the hardest I have worked. Trivium is completely different from what I have learned to expect in district schools!
Family: I have a wonderful fiancé Alex and 3 fuzzy cat children.
Interests/Hobbies Outside of School: Reading and video games. I consume sci-fi and fantasy novels like a hungry dog consumes bacon sandwiches. I don’t get a chance to play many games during the school year though.
Maheshwari Solapurkar-8th/9th Grade English
College: Rugers University
Teaching History: 9th, 10th, 11th, and Creative Writing
Family: My husband is my best friend. I have a daughter who goes to Kinder here. My twin boys are three. I have an older sister and younger brother; sooooooo I have middle child syndrome!
Interests/Hobbies Outside of School: I love to eat tacos! I also enjoy cooking and spending time outdoors with my family.
Have you heard? Trivium students now have access to TexQuest which provides 24/7 online access to a suite of research databases appropriate for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. We also have a new Birthday Book Program!
The two TexQuest databases that are being introduced to students are Britannica School and Gale Resources. Britannica School is an elementary, middle and high school online encyclopedia. It provides articles, video clips and pictures and students can adjust the reading level based on their needs. Students can also have the information read aloud to them, double click on any word to see the definition or have the word pronounced. They can also access the citation for the article. Gale Resources is a collection of several different databases. For elementary/middle school kids Kid Infobits provides information on animals, plants, music, science and sports and National Geographic Kids provides access to books, articles, videos and pictures related to science. Gale In Context is a middle and high school resource that provides access to peer-reviewed, scholarly articles for all disciplines. Middle and high school students can also access other Gale Resources like ebooks, magazines, news articles and so much more!
In addition to Britannica School and Gale Resources Texquest also provides access to:
Proquest -- articles and websites appropriate for grades K-8
Learn360 -- multimedia resources
EBSCO ebooks and college and career readiness resources
Teaching Books -- book and author resources for K-12
These resources can be accessed by going to Trivium’s homepage: https://triviumacademytx.com -- Parent Information -- Helpful Links -- Library Resources or https://triviumacademytx.com/helpful-links and then clicking on Library Resources.
The Birthday Book Program is for students in K-6 that provides families with the option to purchase a book for our library as a way of celebrating their child’s birthday at school. The books are high quality books with special bindings appropriate for library use and you have the option of selecting a name plate to go in the front of the book describing the event the book is honoring. The birthday child will be able to be the first person to check out the book and once it is returned to the library it will be placed on the shelf for others to enjoy. Although the title of this program is the Birthday Book Program it really can be used to celebrate any special event in your child’s life. Just let me know that it is for a different occasion! If you have a student in grades K-6 please be sure that you have joined the elementary specials Bloomz page. The access code is KHSZWQ and this will allow you to receive other important information and weekly updates not just about the library, but from all elementary specials teachers.
Dot Day September 15th!
Trivium is participating in International Dot Day, a global celebration of creativity, courage and collaboration, began when teacher Terry Shay introduced his classroom to Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot on September 15, 2009.
The Dot is the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark”. What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence and courage, igniting a journey of self-discovery and sharing, which has gone on to inspire countless children and adults around the globe.

National Hispanic Heritage Month

Check out the awesome mapping activity from Ms. Rios’s class. She could have easily passed out a mapping worksheet, but Trivium teachers think outside the box, and the students are engaged! That’s how learning sticks.
PIE Updates
Michael Massey - Watch Dogs Volunteer
As a Watch Dog volunteer, Mike says, “I love playing in the gym with Coach Zea and the kids!” Michael would love to invite all Dads, Stepdads, Granddads and Uncles to come help with the “homey-dos” at the school while participating with your own child’s activities. Bring your own tools if possible and check in at the front desk for the jobs needed that day (completed background check required)! Sign-ups in the PIE Group coming soon to Bloomz!
