Attention All Clayton Ridge Families:

Here are three available resources to help your family get much-needed access to food.

1. The Family Resource Center will be available for all families. Call 563-252-3215 if they can help you. See attached info. Deliveries will be available if needed.

2. In addition: A DRIVE THROUGH MOBILE FOOD PANTRY WILL BE HELD ON MARCH 21ST - No need to bring boxes or baskets. Food will be loaded into your vehicle directly from the food truck. This will take place at St. John’s in Guttenberg between 9am and 11am.

3. St. Mary IC School Food Program will provide free meals to ALL children ages 18 and under starting Thursday, March 19th. A grab-n-go breakfast and lunch can be picked up at the same time between 7:30am-12:00pm. Locations will be St. Mary IC School lunchroom Guttenberg (lunchroom is in the St Mary's church basement) or at the Garnavillo Community Center. Meals will be available to pick up Monday-Friday.

Students in Mrs. Crum's Computer Applications II course experimented with using stop-motion animation with Google Slides and creating augmented reality experiences with Metaverse. Mrs. DeGidio worked with students on Hyperdocs that led to the creation of several really cool projects. Mrs. Carole Mackey, MS Social Studies & HS English

Mrs. Mackey's social studies class recently produced newscasts recreating legendary conflicts from the War of 1812. Researching historical figures, writing anchor and on-site reporter scripts, and recording and editing final broadcasts using green screen technology for background battle scenes, all brought America's "second revolution" to life. Clayton Ridge 8th grade students who produced the attached video are Teagan Palmer, Obreth Lopez-Hernandez, Logan Cano, and Aiden Christiansen.

Mrs. Mackey's social studies class recently welcomed Clayton Ridge exchange student, Ella Vihanto, who shared details of her life in Finland to conclude their study of Europe. Ella shared photos of a high school formal dance, common foods, outdoor recreation, and home life. Students learned that Finland has the most official lakes of any country in the world and nearly every home has a sauna. Mrs. Mackey's social studies class is currently studying the roots of immigrants to Northeast Iowa from various countries in Europe. To explore the cultures of that diverse continent, students are researching information and creating artwork and text about countries of their choice on pages of "passport" booklets. Clayton Ridge 7th grade students whose "passports" were voted "Best in Class" this week are (l to r) Owen Ludovissy, Caleb Lawrence, Hailey Gaul, Olivia Baker, Serena Sandoval, and Ella Oberbreckling.

Mrs. Mackey's social studies class rehearses their readers theater production of German and Scandinavian folktales on the stage in the Multi-Purpose Room in Guttenberg. The students plan to record their production with "green screen" technology, adding animated backgrounds, music, and special effects, and share the recording with residents of the Care Center.

5th graders participated in an Osborne presentation called “Earth Rules.” Ms. Abbey from Osborne presented facts and information on the planets in our solar system. Then students completed several different stations on the similarities and differences between the planets and Earth.

Students learned that 4 “Earths” fit across Neptune and 11 “Earths” fit across Jupiter! They also learned that Venus is the closet in size to Earth.

Some CRES 5th-grade students went to Calmar for a Science Fair at NICC on March 10. They presented their project, research paper and display to the judges. They toured the NICC campus and interacted with 6-8 grade students and their projects from other schools. What a fun day of learning! #AlwaysLearning #EaglePride

Clayton Ridge Community School District has both a north and south campus. The northern campus is located in the midst of the rolling prairie of Garnavillo, Iowa and currently serves students in grades PK-5. The southern campus is situated among the picturesque Mississippi River bluffs and boasts a magnificent view of the mighty river and Lock & Dam 10 in Guttenberg, Iowa. The south campus serves middle school (6-8), and high school (9-12).
