Book Fair Information - Week of Dec. 6th
Greetings from the school library team!
We are excited to announce that the Tioga School Library is hosting a student book fair the week of December 5th.
Students will have the opportunity to visit Anderson’s Bookfair during their scheduled library class visit. The price of the books will begin at approximately $6.00. Payments can be made with cash, credit card, or checks made payable to Anderson’s Bookfair Company.
In addition to class visits, the book fair will be open during Literacy Night on December 7th. This is a great opportunity for families to shop together for some great reading materials!
If you are unable to attend Literacy Night, books can be purchased directly from the Anderson’s Bookfair website at www.abcfairs.com . You can select to have your order shipped for free to Tioga School if the purchases are made before noon on Friday, December 9. You can also opt to pay for shipping to have the items sent to your home. Directions can be found on the attached flier.
Thanks so much for supporting your child’s love of reading!

PowerSchool Parent Portal
This year, District 2 has transitioned to a new student information system – PowerSchool.
This transition consolidated several systems across the District, combining data management, the grading system, and the parent portal all into one platform.
This transition is nearly complete, as the District is now set to open its new PowerSchool Parent Portal on Friday, December 16.
The PowerSchool Parent Portal is an online system that will provide parents access to their students’ schedules, attendance, assignments and grades.
Letters providing more information on the PowerSchool Parent Portal will be sent home with students later this month. In-person tutorials will be offered in January, and online resources to help parents create and use their accounts will be posted at www.bsd2.org/powerschool.
School Closing Information
eLearning Days
District 2 now calls eLearning Days when schools must close due to extreme weather. An eLearning Day counts as a regular school day and does not require the District to use a built-in emergency day at the end of the school year.
Students in Grades K-8 will be sent home with their Chromebooks when weather forecasts suggest school closures are a possibility. Attendance will be taken during eLearning Days and the hours of the school day will be the same. Instead of traveling to school, though, students will join their classes through their teachers’ virtual links, which will be posted on the District website and sent to parents via email and text message. Please refer to the District's eLearning Day Parent FAQ resource to learn more.
All students participated in an e-learning practice day with their class on November 30th in order to become familiar with the e-learning schedule and digital links.

Cold Weather: Recess and Accessories
As the seasons continue to change, the weather will be getting cooler! Please be sure to send your child to school with a coat and necessary accessories for the forecasted weather. During the winter months, students will continue to go outdoors for recess each day unless the wind chill factor and weather creates unsafe conditions. In those instances, students will remain indoors for recess in their classrooms.
If you are in need of cold weather accessories (e.g., coats, gloves, scarves, etc.) please reach out to one of our SEL staff members.
