HOLY ROSARY SCHOOL
NEWSLETTER | TERM 4 | WEEK 5 | 10 NOVEMBER 2023
For all the great thoughts I have read
For all the deep books I have studied
None has brought me nearer to Spirit
Than a walk beneath shimmering leaves
Episcopal Bishop Steven Charleston
Hi Everyone,
Something so simple and powerful to meditate on I think.
Today all of our Year Five gang were given the opportunity to reflect on the meaning and purpose of Leadership, not only as it applies to Year Six at Holy Rosary, but on the journey.
Movie Night tonight hosted by your ever active P&F. Surely it will be a great night!
Enjoy the weekend

Annual Community Meeting 5-6pm Tuesday, in the staffroom
Our community benefits so significantly from the work of many. Our School Advisory Council and our Parents and Friends Committee will be reporting on their activities this year. We could not do what we do without them, and we invite you to attend the meeting to listen to their reports and catch up! You are most welcome to attend.
Transition Morning and Class Lists
This takes place on Friday! Class lists will be sent via Seesaw in the morning, and children will spend an hour in the company of their teacher for next year. This is an enjoyable time at school, we look forward to it! Our preference is for everyone to know the arrangements for the following year, at this time, which is early, but which we believe parents and guardians appreciate. In terms of our staff, the information shared with you is as up to date as we can get it.
Classes are regrouped every two years, thereby giving the children the opportunity to deepen friendships when staying together, and broadening them when they are regrouped. Teachers of classes being regrouped (at the end of Pre-Primary for Years One and Two, at the end of Year Two for Years Three and Four, and at the end of Year Four for Years Five and Six) have spent a great deal of time working the classes out, and we thank them for giving this responsibility so much of their attention.
Celebrating the Life of Sophie Martin
It is with deep sadness we inform the Holy Rosary Community that beautiful Sophie Martin passed away peacefully last Friday.
Sophie came to Holy Rosary in Pre Kindy and graduated in 2020 with her Year Six friends. Sophie was an amazing young lady, who made lasting friendships at Holy Rosary. Those friendships continued into high school for Sophie, and she made new friends along the way at Burbridge School.
Sophie was loved by her teachers and had a real passion for learning. She loved books and had a leadership role in Year Six as a Library Monitor. She loved an arm wrestle (best out of three!), zooming around the oval in her wheelchair and being with her friends. Year Six Camp was a highlight for her and her parents, David and Shellie. She was able to be a part of all the activities on camp and loved every minute.
Sophie treasured being a student at Holy Rosary, especially being a part of the Siena Centre. The Siena Family past and present, the children and staff will miss her dearly.
She will live in the hearts of many for years to come.
The Martins would like to extend an invitation to the Holy Rosary Community to be a part of the service for Sophie on Tuesday 21st November at 10.30am at Our Lady of the Rosary Church.
All are welcome.

Triathlon Week at Holy Rosary
We are thrilled to share the exciting news about the incredible achievements of our young athletes in two recent triathlon events – The Hale Connect Individual Triathlon on October 31st and the Primary Champion Schools Triathlon on November 3rd.
Our Holy Rosary squad displayed exceptional sportsmanship, determination, and teamwork, making us proud.
At The Hale Connect Individual Triathlon held on October 31st, our students showcased their extraordinary talents, with a number of standout performances. Among the shining stars was Tom Brady, who emerged victorious in the Year Six event.
Our squad also, participated in the Primary Champion Schools Triathlon on November 3rd, where they continued to shine brightly.
Harry, Noah, and Logan demonstrated exceptional prowess, finishing 13th in the highly competitive A Division and 15th across all divisions. Their impressive performance showcased their tenacity and skills, making us immensely proud. Additionally, Tom, Luis, and Ethan exhibited outstanding teamwork and determination, securing the 18th position across all divisions and an impressive 2nd place in C Division. Their achievement highlights the collaborative spirit within our squad and the dedication they have put into their training sessions.
What truly stood out during both events was the unwavering dedication and enthusiasm displayed by the entire squad. Every participant gave their all, pushing their limits and embracing challenges with a positive attitude.
The smiles on their faces were a testament to the joy they found in competing and supporting one another.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the students, parents, and staff members who supported our athletes throughout these events.
This brings an end to the carnival program for 2023. I would like to thank all our athletes, staff and parents for another wonderful year and look forward to a fantastic 2024.

ICAS Results!
In Term 3, several students within our school took part in the ICAS Assessments. This is an independent, skill-based assessment program that recognises and rewards student achievement. This year an invitation was extended to all students in Year Four to Year Six to participate in the ICAS Science, English, and Maths. I would like to congratulate all students on their participation! In particular, I congratulate the following students for scoring a Credit or Distinction in the following assessments:

Fun times in Pre Kindy
Kindy to Year 5 - To assist us with planning for next year, please complete the form below if your child is not returning to Holy Rosary next year. Families are obliged to provide at least one term’s notice in writing of their intention to remove a child from the school, otherwise a full term’s fees may be charged. Please remember to indicate which school they will be attending next year.
Year Six had their last library sessions with me on Wednesday. I read “Oh the places you’ll go” and am hoping they will fondly remember their library sessions as much as I will. I am very proud of them all as they embark on this next big adventure into high school. Every student in 6C remembered their library bags and books! Well done! What an ending!
