Early Learning Center Update
September 29, 2023
A Greeting from Dr. Champagne-Lee
Dear Families,
It was a shorter week for our students, but a full week for our staff. Lots of rain over the past week, but it looks like drier weather and warmer temperatures are on the horizon. During the month of October, we will have some activities focused on Fire Prevention and Fire Safety. We will also have our first round of field trips for both kindergarten and first grade.
Enjoy the weekend. Thank you.
Educationally Yours,
Keya Champagne-Lee, Ed.D.

Update from the Office
Welcome, Kate Chippariđź’ś
Please join me in welcoming Ms. Kate Chippari as our new front office clerk. Mrs. Lisa Cifelli is transitioning to a new role at our district office. Kate comes to us with a wealth of experience and we are excited to have her on board.
School Safety Drills
We completed our first semiannual school safety drill this week. This drill was conducted under the observation of district administration and local law enforcement. Before the drill, teachers led age-appropriate conversations with their classes and walked the students through the procedures.
Additionally, we had our monthly Fire Drill this week. Students exited and re-entered the building in a calm and orderly manner.

Morning Arrival: New Protocol Beginning Next Week
We would like to remind our car driving families to be calm and courteous when using the car line for both drop off and pick up. Over the past week, we have seen an increase in negative and unsafe interactions in the front parking lot between drivers. The safety of our students is of the utmost importance, and we need all drivers to follow the procedures of the car line to ensure students' safety. We hope that everyone will try harder to lead with grace and be safer, more appropriate role models for all of our students while dropping and picking up our children.
Effective on Tuesday, we are implementing a new procedure to help increase safety and efficiency of the drop off process. We strongly recommend that families use the car line. If you must park, you will need to do so at the far end of the parking lot (closest to Pothouse Road). You will then escort your child down the center sidewalk to the crosswalk. You will exit the parking lot in the same way you entered. Barricades will be in place to restrict access to the front part of the lot. For obvious safety reasons, students may not be dropped off in the middle of the parking lot; please use the car line or a designated parking spot at the far end of the lot. As emphasized over the past few weeks, only families with special needs or extenuating circumstances will be permitted to access the limited visitor parking spots. We will be giving placards to families with a known/documented need. If you have been given a placard, please stay in the left lane of the car line and a staff member will guide you to a visitor’s spot. Thank you for your cooperation and support in ensuring the safety of everyone.
