October 2023 Newsletter
Dear Rainier Families,
September marked a lot of learning and teaching school-wide expectations. The start of the school year has been extremely pleasant thanks to our students working hard to meet their teacher's expectations. Last month included a lot of excitement including the start of our Transition to Kindergarten program, Honor Society Induction, a massive amount of art projects thanks to our new Art Program, gardening galore for the students in our new GROW class and a stunning new fire pit designed and built by students in our STEM class.
We are officially in a school routine and feeling great about moving into October. This month we are eager to begin our after school Dance Club and our very first Sewing Club. October also brings the opportunity for students to enjoy our annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest and other festive fall events.
We've already had two wonderful assemblies and look forward to launching our Monthly Award Assemblies once again. Parents are welcome to join us during our assemblies. This month on Thursday, October 6 at 1:15pm will be our Monthly Award Assembly where we will recognize our Rainiers of the Month and Quality Work Award Winners. Our incredible PTO has purchased an assembly that you won't want to miss called, "No Bullies Allowed" at 1pm on October 23. Please know you are welcome here and we love having parents part of the learning process.
Events to Attend
There are lots of events occuring during the month of October. We hope you are able to join us for them! Please check our our October Event Calendars included in this newsletter. All of the details are also included in the newsletter, however, here are a few highlights:
- Apex Fun Run Event for P-3rd Grade on 10/6 at 12pm
- Apex Fun Run Event for 4th-8th Grade on 10/6 at 1pm
- PTO Parent Meeting on 10/9 at 2:30pm
- Free Family Dinner and Math Night on 10/19 at 5pm
- Parent/Teacher Conferences on 10/26 and 10/27 (registration coming soon)
- FIRST EVER Trick-or-Treat the Halls on 10/27 from 6pm-8pm
- Halloween Assembly on 10/31 at 1pm
We could use your help with the following items:
- Our Lost and Found is collecting more items by the day. If you would please consider writing initials or a student name inside coats, we can ensure your child gets their item back.
- For accidents and rainy weather it is very helpful to ensure your child has a set of clothes in his or her backpack.
- All students who attend our school are eligible for free breakfast and lunch. Our cook has had an inaccurate lunch count. If you could please chat with your child every morning before they leave for school to ensure they know if they are supposed to order a hot lunch or eat their cold lunch, that would greatly help.
Your partnership is important to us as we want to ensure the very best for your child(ren).
Have a beautiful fall,
Principal Burslem

π· Extra Support for Band Students πΊ
Greetings CCA Band Families,
Because of very limited band practices that we are able to schedule during the regular school day, beginning Monday morning, Sept. 25, Mr. Hunter will be available to help individual band members on their instrument, rhythm mastery, and song mastery from 7:00 β 7:30 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Mr. Hunter is not at CCA on Wednesdays.
The location for extra help will depend on if it is a band day or non-band day:
- On BAND DAYS, we will meet on the STAGE.
- On NON-BAND DAYS, we will meet in the MAKERSPACE building.
Attendance is optional of course, but much can be accomplished during these special practice times. Students are encouraged to attend as often as they like.
