Veterans' Day Prayer
God, we give you thanks today for our nation's veterans. We honor them for their faithful service to our country, and for what they have done to defend and preserve our freedom. Generation after generation, young men and women have answered our country's call. And as a result, their lives have been changed forever.
We are grateful to all who have served, whether in peacetime or in periods of conflict. But today we especially remember those who have been tempered by fire, those who continue to bear wounds of the body or the spirit as a result of what they endured. They lie in our veterans' hospitals or struggle for recovery in rehabilitation centers; they suffer from post-traumatic stress and survivor' guilt; they yearn for peace in their souls.
Dear God, we ask you to heal their wounds, to banish whatever inner demons may haunt them, and to give them peace within so they may return fully to their families and to society.
We thank you, God, for all of our country's veterans—those of past generations, and those who continue to earn this title today. May we never forget what our country has asked of them and what they have given in return. Help us to care enough to give them the respect and honor they are due. And strengthen our resolve to build a world modeled on your realm, where war will be pursued no more.
This we ask in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Amen

Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher Conferences are being held this week, and it is great to see the enthusiasm from both parents and teachers in discussing the academic progress of the students. It is important that parents support the teachers in the learning process. Their are two areas in which I request parent support. The first is in working with your child with basic math facts. For instance, each night to take 10 minutes to drill your child on their tables in the four domains of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The other area is to work with your child on Mass responses at church. The school can only do so much, and we need your support with Mass attendance and modeling the responses for the children so they can learn those responses by heart. Thank you for your support in these two areas.
Congratulations - 6th Grade Volleyball
We wish our 6th grade volleyball team the best for Sunday when they will be playing in the championship game at Nativity at 12.30pm.
I wish to thank all our sports coaches and players for successful baseball and volleyball seasons. While not everyone reached championship level everyone performed very well.
Principal Awards Ceremony
The Principal Awards Ceremony will be held on Monday, November 9th at 9am in the Church. Since we will be using the Church space, I wish to remind everyone about respect for this sacred space. Cell phones are not to be used in the church, and talking should be at a minimum. No food or drink or balloons are to be brought into the Church.
Candy/Giftwrap Fundraiser
I wish to remind everyone that the candy/giftwrap money is overdue to the office. Please ensure that you submit your candy/giftwrap money to the school office.
General Finances
The school finance committee wishes to inform everyone that it is the parents' responsibility to ensure fees, tuition, and other financial obligations are paid in a timely manner. The school's business side has financial commitments to make payroll and to pay our third party vendors. We rely on prompt tuition payments. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.
Kindergarten Open House
On Wednesday, December 2nd, we will have our Kindergarten Open House from 9am to 11am. If you know of anyone who has children of Kindergarten age for next school year, please let them know about this date. Please see the attached flyer.
New School Information System
We will be moving over to School Speak as our new School Information System for next school year, 2016-2017. New enrolling parents will have access to School Speak in December. We are quite pleased with the new system.
Veterians Day Prayer Service
As part of our Veteran’s Day Prayer Service next Wednesday, we would like to recognize our All Souls family members and friends who have served in the military. If you would like your veterans to be remembered during the service please email Miss Johanson kjohanson@ssfallsoulsschool.org with their names and branch of service. Please submit names by Monday, November 9th, and the names will be included on a special memorial flag to be displayed during the service. You are all invited to attend the service on Wednesday, November 11th at 9:00 am.
Car Safety
During the week one of our parents had their car hit from behind by another parent's car. The police were involved. People are parking in red zones when they come to pick up the children. This is not a good example for the students. I have asked the traffic division to be at the school to enforce to road rules around the school. Once again people are causing problems an on the corner of Spruce and Miller in the mornings. This all can be avoided if parents drop their child to school by 7.55am.
WIFI Issue
Unfortunately our WIFI system has had a critical failure. Due to its age and also due to the increased Comcast signal, our infrastructure cannot cope any more. Therefore we will be replacing our total WIFI network over the next couple of weeks. This will require new Cat 6 wiring to all classrooms, replacing Cat5E cables, new WiFi devices in each room, and new switches at critical points of the school. This will not be a cheap fix. We estimate the cost will be over $20,000.00. It is a job that does need to be completed as soon as possible. In the mean time we do have a temporary fix with two Sprint Routers that will suffice in the short term.
God Bless,
