Urbandale Spring Apparel: Orders Due By March 28

Urbandale Spring Apparel is now available for purchase! Please visit this link to place an order.


Orders will be filled within three to four weeks of the closing date (March 28). Note that returns are NOT accepted. All orders must be placed by 11:59 p.m. on March 28, 2022.

Skate DSM's Get on Board Project

Skate DSM's Get on Board Project will give out up to 500 high-quality, complete skateboards and helmets to kids in the Des Moines area. For more details, eligibility and how to apply view the link below.

2022-23 Student Registrations Opens April 1st (Friday)!

Families with students in kindergarten through 11th grade currently enrolled in the district will receive an email on April 1, 2022, with instructions for online registration. For families without email, a letter will be mailed to you with instructions for registering your returning student(s).

Smile Squad Coming to Valerius May 18th & 19th!

Smile Squad Mobile Unit returns to Valerius on May 18th and 19th. This program provides FREE dental services to our students during the school day. If your student(s) could benefit from free dental care, please reach out to our school nurse, Jenny Villegas. You can call her at (515) 457-5703 or email her at villegasj@urbandaleschools.com. If you are interested, a consent form will be sent home with your student for you to fill out and needs to be returned to Jenny by April 15th.


If your student has an established dentist and has regular yearly checkups, we ask you to continue care with your regular provider.


Some services provided on the Mobile Unit include:

· Examination & X-rays

· Sealants

· Fluoride

· Fillings

· Extraction (baby teeth)

· Silver crowns (baby teeth)

· Teeth Cleaning


We are excited to have the smile squad back and to be able to provide these FREE services to our students!

Pom Pom March Madness!

Work together as a whole school being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe to earn pom poms and fill your class jar. Each class will make a team jersey and earn basketballs with each jar filled. Below is the presentation shared with students on how to earn BIG FUN!

Visitor Reminders

Just a few reminders as we welcome visitors back into the building.

  • As the COVID-19 vaccine is currently approved for individuals 5 years of age and older, visitors are permitted for Kindergarten through 12th grades. This means that students, staff, families, and visitors in compliance with school visitor policies and Principal approval are allowed inside our elementary (K-5), middle, and high school buildings.
  • Visitors are not permitted during lunch for Kindergarten through 8th grades.
  • Building Principals may limit the number of adult visitors in a classroom, or in an area of the building, at any given time.

All visitors must check into the main office to sign in and to be escorted to the classroom. Please call the main office if you have any questions.
