Welcome to the GES Week In Review (WIR).
The WIR will be sent out weekly during the school year. In the WIR you will find upcoming dates and information relevant to your child here at GES. Please review regularly to stay abreast of the exciting things happening at Gilbertsville Elementary School.
Important Dates
September 11 Recognition of Patriot Day -Wear Red, White, and Blue
- HSA Meeting, GES Library (6 PM Board Members only, 7PM All members)

September 20 Early Dismissal:
AM Kindergarten: 8:45 am - 10:30 am
PM Kindergarten: 10:30 am - 12:25 pm
Grades 1-5: 8:45 am - 12:25 pm
FID (Flexible Instruction Days)
BASD has the ability to utilize one snow day and 5 flexible instruction days throughout the school year in the event that inclement weather or other emergency school closing. Your child’s teacher will review these directions with your child early next week. In the event of an unexpected school closing, the district message will define what type of day is being used. Digital and paper/pencil options will be provided. If a student cannot access the Internet or paper copies of the learning activities, he/she will have three (3) school days to complete the assignments. Any student who fails to complete their FID assignment within three school days will be marked as absent.
Author Visit!
Roof Work at GES Starts Tuesday, September 5
There will be contactors working on the roof starting September 5th. If you are using parent pick up or drop off, please be extra careful when exiting the playground area. This contractor's equipment and materials will be stored in the parking area by the playground. Thank you for your cooperation.
5th Grade Calendar Contest Information
Attention 5th Graders. Are you creative and like to draw? Consider entering the 27th Annual Drug-Free Calendar Contest. This competition is for 5th graders only from across the state of Pennsylvania. For more information, click on the pdf links below.
4th and 5th Grade Chorus and Ensemble
Hello parents from Mr. Horner, general music teacher at G.E.S! I sent home a letter and an email on Wednesday giving you information about how your child can sign up to participate in Chorus and Select Ensemble this year. Please see the link below for my school website. Here you will find tabs for 4th Grade Chorus and 5th Grade Chorus. The directions for responding are contained in the letters posted in these sections. I need a response from each family as to whether your child is going to participate this year in Chorus and possibly Select Ensemble by this Sunday evening, September 10th.

Elementary Orchestra Sign Ups!
Dear 3rd and 4th grade Parents,
Is your child interested in learning the VIOLIN, VIOLA, CELLO, or BASS? We just finished giving string demonstrations and can't wait to get started teaching our beginner musicians! All students should have received an informational packet, but please reach out if you have any questions! The Elementary Orchestra Program is open to students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade in the Boyertown Area School District.

First Day of School Paperwork
New for the 2023-2024 school year, we are providing parents/guardians and students with a digital
backpack containing all of the forms distributed to students on their first day of school.

BASD Food Service Information
Your child(ren) will be able to get breakfast and lunch at school. Lunch prices are included in the memo from food service listed below.
School breakfast will once again be offered for free for all Pennsylvania schools.

Attendance Procedures

Educational Trip: Parents/Guardians must complete an Educational Trip Form 2 days prior to your child's absence. **Please note that failure to submit a trip form prior to departure will result in trip days being counted as an unlawful absence.
Parent Pick Up and Drop Off Procedures
If you are planning to transport your child to school, please complete the google form indicating the adults that you give permission to pick up your child after school. As we work through the first few weeks of school we ask for your patience as we all get used to our transportation procedures. Thank you in advance for that.

GES HSA
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The GES HSA is working hard to plan many exciting events for you and your children. Please review the information below so that you can stay up to date and involved.
- Homeroom Parent communication Form-Please complete so your child's homeroom parent can communicate with you. You can also express interest in becoming a homeroom parent in this form.
- GES HSA Shirt Orders- Every other year the HSA provides each student with a GES shirt. This year we are collecting sizes in a different way. Please use the link below and student ID to order this FREE shirt. You need to put your child's student ID in the coupon code area for checkout. You can only do one transaction at a time so if you have multiple kids you need to follow this process for each child.
