Glen Ellyn School District 41
Message from the Superintendent
Thank you to all of our families for completing the Commitment Form indicating if your children will return under the blended AM/PM model or the remote only option. Click here for the Reopening of Schools Plan. Approximately 21 percent of our families have requested the remote only option. The principals are doing their best to build the schedules for the blended model and to assign the same time of day for siblings. Thank you in advance for your patience as I know it is always best to have as much time as possible to plan. We are working hard and fast to get the information to you as soon as possible.
I continue to have weekly meetings with area superintendents, the Regional Office of Education and the DuPage County Health Department. Although we have plans set for a blended model option in the fall, please remember that things can change quickly during the pandemic. All families should be prepared for a switch to remote only learning if that is required at any point this school year. I know that it is very frustrating to hear this; however, it is our reality during these challenging and unpredictable times.
Throughout the summer months, I have been in the schools and am thankful for the hard work happening to make safety adjustments to our buildings. Here is a photo of me recording a video for families that will provide a peek into the schools and procedures that will be in place throughout the district when we return. The video will be sent home to families before the first day of school.
I will continue to reach out and provide updates when we have them. A reminder that the first day of school is planned for Friday, August 21 (the Board of Education plans to officially approve this new start date and the official school year calendar at the August 10 meeting).

D41 Kids Foundation Supporting Those Most in Need
Since mid-March the D41 Kids Foundation has provided support to students and families across our schools. Generous donors from our D41 school community and outside the community through businesses and civic organizations have stepped up to help. We are so grateful for these donations. The need for store gift cards will continue to bridge meal and grocery support. Thank you for your support! Our grateful families also thank you for your support during these challenging times.
