IMPORTANT AUSD LOCAL CONTROL ACCOUNTABILITY PLAN SURVEY: SHARE YOUR FEEDBACK TODAY!
Just a quick reminder to check your District email for an important survey. You should find a link to the AUSD Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) Survey. This survey is really important as it's designed to help the District improve student outcomes in various areas such as safety, instruction, student engagement, staff quality, families and community, technology, and operations.
The survey shouldn't take too long to complete, and it's really important that you submit your feedback by December 15, 2023. Hanover Research will keep all the information you provide confidential, so don't hesitate to click on the link and share your valuable feedback.

LAW GIVES TEACHERS THE FINAL WORD ON STUDENTS' GRADES
According to the California Education Code 49066, teachers have the authority to assign grades to their students. The grade given by the respective teacher for any course of instruction taught in a school district is considered final unless there is any clerical or mechanical mistake, fraud, bad faith, or incompetence. Suppose there is a challenge to a grade assigned by a teacher from a parent, student, or administrator. In that case, the teacher has the right to defend the grade with the support of an Association representative, who should always be present in such situations.

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING WORK ORDER AND 5-DAY LETTERS - A REMINDER
It's important to remember that the Working Conditions section of our contract is a valuable resource, particularly when it comes to submitting work orders and 5-day letters. If you encounter an issue that requires attention, be sure to review the guidelines outlined in Article VII, page 13. Remember that for non-emergency situations, you should follow the protocol established at your site for submitting work orders and obtain a work order number. If the problem persists, reach out to your site admin and inform your site rep. If that doesn't yield results, fill out a 5-Day Letter. For emergency situations, immediately report issues that impact safety to your admin and follow up with a 5-Day Letter if necessary. And don't forget, your Site Rep is always available to provide support and guidance if you need it.
