The Talbot Sunday Update
September 24th
Welcome to the Talbot Sunday Update. This is a weekly communication that will be sent out to families every Sunday evening. It will include reminders, updates, and specific information about the upcoming school week.
Our collaboration with Smore allows families to select the language which best meets their needs.

How can we support our kids to navigate the “digital wilderness”? We’ll look at some reasons behind this difficult to navigate journey for parents and how we support media balance and well-being. The session will incorporate strategies to help extend our schools’ efforts and build a culture of healthy, mindful tech use at home.
This session will be led by:
Kate Meyer, M.Ed., English and Design Thinking Teacher, Common Sense Education
Ambassadors at Mount Desert Island High School
Jonathan R. Werner, M.S.Ed., of the Maine Department of Education’s Learning Through
Technology initiative.
COMINGS AND GOINGS - A FEW IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR FAMILIES
Arrival
School arrival begins at 7:25. There is no adult supervision before 7:25. School begins at 7:40 and prompt arrival is important.
Dismissal
Dismissal is at 2:10 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Prompt pick-up of students is very much appreciated.
Early Release on Wednesdays
EVERY WEDNESDAY IS EARLY RELEASE.
Students are dismissed at 1:10. Parents should plan to pick their students up at school OR greet children at the bus stop one hour earlier than the other school days.
All About Student Safety
Bus Stops
All Kindergarten students MUST be met at the bus stop by an adult. If no adult is there to greet a kindergarten student, they will return on the bus to Talbot Community School.
Change In Dismissal Plans
For any end-of-day change in dismissal plans, parents must call the office no later than 1:30 (12:30 on Wednesdays). Otherwise, for safety reasons, we will need to follow the original dismissal plan.
We are unable to dismiss students to anyone other than parents, unless the parents contact the office to provide permission and the plan for someone else to pick up their child(ren).
Visitors to Talbot Community School
All visitors to Talbot must enter through the front doors of the school and check in with the front office. For safety reasons, we will no longer buzz visitors through the community entrance.
