As we enter the fifth week of the 2023-2024 school year, there have been both positive feedback and concerns from the staff. Unfortunately, last year's budget crisis caused a significant reduction in staff, which has had a major impact on the current school year. This year has been particularly difficult due to over 20 vacant positions within the school system, coupled with declining enrollment. Despite these challenges, our staff has done an incredible job of rising to the challenge to ensure that students do not suffer any negative consequences. We acknowledge the difficulties faced and express gratitude and respect for the dedication and commitment of the staff. Our top priorities remain the students' learning and well-being, and we will continue to work towards that goal.
The district is also committed to providing clear and consistent updates about this year's budgeting process. Staff can expect regular video updates and information from Superintendent Kalahar in the coming months.
