The Lady Marauders have officially kicked off (no pun intended) their spring sports season! This is after a drought of no ladies soccer for two years, but they have recovered with full JV and Varsity squads! The team is led by Head Coach Adam Palmer who was the CSML Coach of the Year for the Men's team with his assistants Tim Owen, Alex Dowdy, and Kelsi Deal. They are also led by Junior Captain Kennai.
They have played a few games already resulting in an 0-3 record, but are continuing to grow and show promise for the future!

3 Things You Should Know About State Testing
- On the school’s last report card from the state, issued in 2019, Mitchell High School was given a “priority improvement” rating. However, we believe that our scores this year will show marked improvement because Marauders led School District 11 in participation and growth on reading and math benchmark assessments this school year. We can’t wait to see what our students can do as they demonstrate their learning and growth on state assessments!
Standardized assessments measure student achievement and growth.
- This is a chance for students to demonstrate what they know and what they still need to learn. The information informs our work as we plan for future teaching and learning. Teachers will review and reflect on the information provided from state assessments to adjust instructional plans for next year.
Performance on these assessments can open doors to future opportunities.
- The PSAT 10 is a National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
- SAT scores are widely accepted by colleges and universities as qualification for admission and merit-based scholarships.
- From earning an industry-based certification to earning a nursing or teacher’s license, standardized assessments are required in many areas of life. Putting their best effort into state assessments now can help prepare students to excel on tests in their future as well.
3 Things You Can Do to Help
- Partner with us in achieving strong participation and test-day performance by ensuring that your child is present, well-rested, and ready to give their all on test day.
- Encourage your child to complete practice test materials provided in their student guide and available for free online at khanacademy.org.
- Reach out with any questions or concerns you may have.
