I hope you and your families are well. While 5th graders are wrapping up their years at FAVE and Talley, we are planning for their arrival at Beacon Hill Middle School for the 2023-2024 school year. I can’t wait, and I hope parents and students alike are looking forward to school next year. The jump from 5th grade to 6th grade is more of a hop really, and our 6th grade team is amazing at making the transition seamless. 2023-24 will be a great school year!! Please see the information below concerning your child’s 6th grade experience next year at Beacon Hill Middle School. We need your input so we can complete schedules for next year.

Greetings from the Beacon Hill Music Department. Registration is now open for the Band, Chorus, and Orchestra programs at Beacon Hill Middle School. Each 5th grader will have an opportunity to hear the BHMS Band, Chorus and Orchestra during their orientation visit to BHMS

(May 10 or 11).

Now is the time for rising 6th graders to register for the award winning music programs at Beacon Hill MIddle school. The outstanding music programs are year long classes that meet during the school day. Any student interested in learning to play a musical instrument or singing is welcome. No prior experience in the Band, Chorus or Orchestra is required.

Students will learn to read music in depth and will have an opportunity at the beginning of the year to try/decide what Band or Orchestra instrument they wish to play.

Please take some time to review the information found below about all three of these outstanding music programs. The deadline to register is May 31, 2023. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the teachers below.

Middle school students will choose one of three World Languages: Spanish, French, or German. All rising 6th graders will have the opportunity to rank their World Language choices at school in the coming weeks. Please discuss this choice with your child. 5th grade students will be completing a Google form with their classroom teacher. (In some cases, certain languages fill up and their second choice will be given.)

Connections Classes at BHMS

Middle School students have five core subjects, lunch/recess, and two connections classes every day. Students rotate connections courses every term (18 weeks), unless the course is a year-long course (chorus, orchestra, and band). Students choosing to participate in Chorus, Band and Orchestra will need to indicate their intent (by registering on the websites for each program below). Rising 6th graders do not select other elective courses and will rotate through a variety of classes during their three years at BHMS. BHMS will host a information session on Thursday, May 11 at 6pm in the media center for parents of rising gifted 6th graders who would like to know more about gifted services at BHMS.
