Please join us in the library or on Zoom for our next MIT Meeting. Special guests, Assistant Superintendent Helen Joung and Capital Projects Director Taine Wilton will be on hand to present information and answer questions about the upcoming Bond and Levy. Madrona benefitted from previous bonds with a beautiful new school and campus. Please attend our meeting to learn more about supporting the other schools in our district that need building updates and replacements.

Madrona Miles Club sponsored by MIT is returning in January! This is a free opportunity for students from kindergarten through eighth grade to come to school 30 minutes early on Mondays and Thursdays (8:50-9:20) to walk, run, or jog the track. It is a chance to get their bodies and minds ready for a great day at school. Research has shown active students are more successful in their academics, so take advantage of Madrona Miles Club beginning on Monday January 8th.

Families are welcome to join their children or they may also drop them off. For every mile completed, students will receive foot tokens on their MMC necklaces as well as other incentives. MCT rehearsals start January 9 immediately after school.

Madrona Children’s Theater is supported entirely by volunteers. We encourage you to share your expertise, even if your child isn’t a participant in MCT. Girls on the Run–Coaches Needed!

Girls on the Run will be back this Spring at Madrona and we are looking for coaches. Practice runs from April 15th - June 10th. Coaching is truly one of the most rewarding experiences and Girls on the Run has a curriculum that is simple to follow. Below is more information from the organization. Please consider encouraging everyone to vote in February for the School Levy and Bond. Madrona benefitted from previous bonds with our gorgeous campus and buildings. Mark your calendars to join us for Edmonds Comedy Night - a great night out and an easy fundraiser for school parent groups.

This event, hosted by Parent Leaders for the Edmonds School District benefits all our parent groups in many ways.

1. Earn $10 per ticket sold when the attendees select your group when they buy tickets.

2. Each registered parent group also receives 2 tickets to use through raffles, auctions, gratuity, or recognition to support their group.

3. Finally, proceeds go to support the Parent Leaders Grant which can help fund local programs and projects led by any of our parent groups.

If you’d like the article to be included for multiple weeks (for example, a signup genius for volunteer opportunities) please include that information. Have you filled out your volunteer paperwork yet? All volunteers must be cleared by Edmonds School District before volunteering in any capacity at Madrona. It a quick process, but please allow up to two weeks for notification from the district about clearance. All volunteers must have either an ID badge or sticker from the office visible while on campus. Become an editor for your MIT project, activity or committee page on our site. MIT Technology is putting together the ability to safely allow individuals to be editors of a page on the site. You will be able to login and edit the content on your page whenever you want to keep it updated. You will be able to upload images and media to support your activities. Contact Molly via MITParentChair@gmail.com if your interested in this ability. We are compiling a list of folks with the time and desire to volunteer to adopt a page.

Open Call for MIT technology volunteers. We need to find additional web site support volunteers to help post updates to the web site and produce the MIT news letter emails. A few hours each week are needed. Zoom Training will be provided by Michael Scott McGinn in how to use WordPress, Smore and A.I. tools to create images and story editing ideas. If you would like to volunteer please email Molly at MITParentChair@gmail.com
