Upcoming Staff Change
Dear Washougal Community,
The Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative (CPWI) fiscal agent for Unite! (Clark County) has given notice to the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) that they will no longer be able to serve in that role. Both the County and the HCA are working together to identify a new fiscal agent and have asked Unite! Washougal to provide valuable feedback that will assist in guiding the decision. Please look for important updates regarding this change.
The transition will not affect the Drug Free Community Grant (DFC) or their fiscal agent.
That said, I want to personally let you know I am resigning as the CPWI Coordinator for Unite! Washougal Community Coalition. My contract will end with the current fiscal agent, mid-November. Change is never easy and I struggled over this decision but know it's best for a variety of reasons. I am proud of all we have accomplished together. Prevention is tremendous work and very close to my heart! From here I will move on to work in the field of mental health counseling, specializing in trauma therapy.
I am beyond honored and grateful for the opportunity to know, partner, and work alongside each and every one of you; community members, coalition members, leaders, partners,
youth, and volunteers. You are all amazing! Thank you for the trust you placed in me and for the support, encouragement, and friendship given along the way.
Know I'll continue to support prevention efforts in a different capacity and always cheering YOU and our wonderful community on to great things!
Warm regards,
Deborah Connors

Outstanding Event!
Unite! partnered with twelve partners including Walmart, Evergreen Tennis and Vancouver Pediatric Dentistry to bring social media expert Collin Kartchner from #savethekids to speak about balancing device and screen time to increase family connection and youth mental health. Collin challenged over 450 students at Jemtegaard Middle to reach out to others and value real life relationships. This presentation was brought into the classroom with discussions and follow up lessons about social media use and forming real life connections with friends. Collin also challenged both adults and youth to reach out and give 8 friends an 8 second hugs every day! We need each other! Connection is the best prevention!
