HITEON HIGHLIGHTS NEWSLETTER

Principal's Message
Dear Hiteon Families,
We are so excited that school is about to begin again!
Even though we are unable to be together in person, we are happy to see all our Hiteon Hawks again. School starts on September 14 for 1st through 5th graders, and Kindergarteners will begin on September 16. If you are a kindergarten parent, more information will be coming on what September 14 and 15 will look like for your child. More to come!
Wednesday, September 2, you will receive an email from your child’s classroom teacher for this school year, letting you and your child know whose class they are in. We know students and families are anxious to know who their teacher will be! We are developing plans for students to meet their new teachers.
In terms of a daily schedule for the upcoming school year, below is a basic daily schedule for students this year in Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL). Last spring, everyone was learning how to teach and learn remotely, and due to that experience, this fall will be a more consistent schedule among grade levels within a building and across the district.
Daily Schedule:
School begins at 8:00 am daily
Each student's day will launch with community building and check-in time
Lunch is from 11:00 to 12:00 pm
Core Instruction is from 8:30 to 11:00 am and 12:00 to 2:00 pm
Each grade level will develop a more specific schedule of when specific subjects will be taught when. You can expect to have this schedule by September 8. It will be sent out to families by their child’s classroom teacher.

I-Pad & Chromebook Information:
I-pad Distribution for Kindergartners, First & Second Graders ONLY
- If PK-2 students signed out a Chromebook in the spring, we request that they bring the device and charger to the iPad Distribution.
- If the parents ensure they know their student ID before they come to the deployment it will greatly speed up the process.
- Please send this card in your communications to parents Device Checkout Info Card.pdf filling it out prior to arriving at the distribution will help speed up the process and help us maintain social distancing. The card is not required to receive an iPad.
Chromebook Distribution - 2 Possible Situations
Please do not come to get a Chromebook if you were provided
one from any Beaverton school last spring.
Two Reasons to come and get a Chromebook
Your child(ren) is/are a new Beaverton student in third, fourth, or fifth grade. You will need to come to Hiteon on Friday, September 11 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am.
You have a Beaverton Chromebook from last spring, but it no longer works, so you need a replacement. Bring the broken Chromebook back and we will exchange it on Friday, September 11 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm.
The Student Help Desk is now Open
If you have any issues with your device or logging in, you will need to contact the Student Help Desk. Only email requests will be accepted until September 8th.
Starting on September 8th, there will be a phone number to call for help as well. More information can be found here:

Leaving the Beaverton School District
If your child(ren) are leaving the district, you must return any Chromebooks, power cords, routers, etc. that were issued during the Spring.
Please contact Hiteon's Technology Support Specialist:
Wesley Hayashi at wesley_hayashi@beaverton.k12.or.us
Contact Wesley, and he will schedule a time to meet with you and do a contactless return of the equipment.
