Student Council Candy Gram Sales
Student council is excited to sell Candy Grams once again! This year all funds raised from Candy Gram sales will go to Luciana's Legacy in honor of a Fraser family's child. This organization supports families in need of assistance with medical bills in Luciana's memory.
Candy grams are a fun way to send Valentine wishes to friends. These candy grams may be sent to anyone at Disney Elementary. Candy grams are 50 cents each. Our student council will be selling them during all lunches for the week of February 5th - 9th. Candy grams will include a special message from the sender to the recipient and a valentine sucker. Please be sure that you know your friend's homeroom teacher when sending candy gram.
During students' lunch time they may purchase their candy grams. Candy Gram message forms will be sent home with the student to complete at home and bring back to school once complete. Parents may also send money with their child to purchase a candy gram (fill out the form at home and return it with your child). All completed candy gram messages must be returned by Friday, February 9th.
Our student council will assemble and sort candy grams and ensure special delivery is made to homeroom teachers in time for Valentine's Day!
Thank you for supporting this great cause and spreading kindness throughout Disney, too :)

Kids Heart Challenge
On Friday, we officially kicked off our Kids Heart Challenge with a welcome assembly. How can students help?
- Start by downloading the Kids Heart Challenge App or by clicking here to register
- Complete Finn's Mission: learn TWO lifesaving skills as a family
- Become a Heart Hero: send texts via the App to invite friends and family asking for support
Get to know this year's Heart Hero's by clicking here!
Thank you so much for supporting our school and the American Heart Association!
❤️A little note about the Finn's Mission... Disney's goal is to have 18 students complete Finn's Mission which students will see once they register for the challenge. Any student who completes his challenge (which is a series of videos teaching about heart safety), is entered to win ⭐two tickets to Super Bowl LIX in 2025 AND our school is entered to receive $10,000 in fitness equipment!⭐ Disney has already had 6 students complete Finn's Mission!

Kindergarten Groundhog Day
On Friday, Miss Svoboda's kindergarten learned about Groundhog Day and made their predictions if Punxsutawney Phil will see his shadow. Students were so excited to learn that Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow and declares an early spring!
6th Grade Student Led Groups
Student Ownership and Student Led Groups were a focus this week in 6th grade. Students walked through a survey to reflect on their experiences they have had in small groups led by their peers. We then read an article about how taking personal responsibility and speaking up by asking questions is so important in their academic successes. Students then signed up in “Help Wanted” areas they feel is most important such as ZEARN, general math questions, math fact practice, choice boards, and missing work. One student said, “I am the leader of a group, and it has made it easier for me to work with other people.” Another student said, “I feel better working with others has helped me with the things I am not too good at.” We are so proud of our student’s hard work and intentional use of their time in student led groups once a week to support their peers!

Extra Clothes
Our students love playing outside and recess. Our playground is often muddy and students often come in from recess with wet and/or muddy clothes. Please make sure to have an extra set of clothes in your child's backpack in case of an accident throughout the school day. This will help prevent a call home for a change of clothes. Thank you!

Canvas- Parent Access
All Fraser classroom teachers provide instruction, resources, activities, and assessments to students utilizing the Canvas LMS. As a result, students have continuous access to the course materials and information regarding their achievement.
Parents/Guardians can also have continuous access to their student’s course materials and grades in Canvas by creating a parent/observer account. In addition, parents of multiple students can easily switch between their students to view grades and assignments within the same parent account. All sign up information and resources are provided on the Fraser website.
Important reminders when using Canvas:
- Canvas works best in Chrome
- Please do not install the Canvas app (for parents or students). We are not supporting it as our staff and students are utilizing the web-based version of Canvas and it looks and works differently.
- If you signed up and paired with your students last year, you still have access to those students and their new courses this year.
- If you need to add more students to your account this year, please follow the directions provided below.
- If you have forgotten your password, you can use the Forgot Password? link on the parent sign in page. Then, enter the email address you used to set up the account to receive a password reset email.
- If you have forgotten the email you used, please reach out to Kim Keith, Kimberly.keith@fraserk12.org, for additional assistance.
Parking Lot Reminders
We all know that the Disney parking lot is challenging at times, especially during the winter months. We understand that our dismissal can be stressful and intense with the high volume of car pickup students. From time to time it is important to review our procedures. If we all follow our parking lot procedures and practice patience, we will be able to quickly exit everyone safely
- Please stay all the way to the right in the pick-up line to allow others to enter the parking lot and thru traffic to pass
- Please refrain from parking anywhere other than designated parking spaces, this includes, parking in handicapped parking spots unless your handicap parking pass is properly displayed
- Please be distraction free - refrain from using cell phones, loud music, or other distracting activities. Pay attention and be on the lookout for people walking through the lots
- Please do not pull through the parking spaces to exit. Those parking should back out of parking spaces and utilize the thru traffic line to exit the parking lot.
- Please turn right on Kelly when exiting the parking lot for safety and to help assist with traffic flow.
- The driveway in the front of the school is for bus parking, emergency vehicles, and exiting traffic only. Please do not park or drop-off/pick-up students in the bus loop. Families may not park on Kelly and walk through the bus driveway at dismissal.
- Smoking and pets are not permitted on school grounds. Please leave your pets at home for the safety and comfort of all of our students and families.
