Advanced Photo Field Trip
After a stormy weekend, the advanced photography students from Rowland High School packed up their gear and ventured to Crystal Cove State Park. Students trekked through a quarter mile through untamed California chaparral as brown pelicans gilded overhead and other wildlife lay off our path. Our team descended the rugged cliffs to a stretch of unsettled California coastline to find a rocky outcrop overrun with sea anemones, mussels, gooseneck barnacles, and sea lettuce. There we proceed to chronicle the natural beauty that lay before us.
Physical Science saves the Holiday Season!
Ms. Caringal's physical science class was tasked on a special mission to save the Holiday Season. Santa and his minions had turned evil. In order to take them down, the students must use their physics knowledge to build a catapult to hit Santa's weak points. Using the engineering design process, students were able to build a holiday-themed catapult. Throughout the first semester, the students learned about projectile motion, different types of energy, and how energy transfers in different systems. Using what they learned, they were able to make these awesome catapults. The event was lots of fun, and the students made some awesome catapults.
