Principal's Message
Campo Families,
We are thrilled to see that our positive COVID cases are declining since going into a hybrid schedule. Please remember that tomorrow is a district half-day and the virtual periods will be used for teacher office hours and intervention groups. If you need help or additional support please email your teachers. Stay tuned for communication within the next day or two in regard to if we will remain on hybrid or return to our all in-person schedule.
Students must remember to login to buzz daily before noon if they are on a virtual learning day. This is how their attendance is submitted. Thank you for continuing to socially distance and follow recommended precautions at home to keep our Campo Family safe.
You can refer to our Gilbert Public Schools website for updates and health services information. If you have any questions please let us know.

FRESHMAN ECAP VISIT PRESENTATION
Freshmen Family Meetings
Dear Freshmen Families,
We would like to welcome our Freshmen coyotes to the Campo Verde High School family! School counselors work to address student’s academic, career, and social/ emotional development ensuring today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow. CVHS Counselors are assigned to students by an alphabet split of last names.
The transition from middle school to high school can be challenging (lots of questions, planning out classes, making new friends, where do I fit in). High school years are full of growth, promise, excitement, frustration, disappointment, and hope. It is the time when students begin to discover what the future holds for them. Our hope is that we can help make that transition a little less stressful. We would like to meet with you and your student for a 30 minute individual Freshman Family Meeting (meeting with your individual counselor). During this time we will discuss your student’s 4 year plan, goal setting, and we can answer any other questions you may have.
Please sign up for a meeting date and time through our sign up genius link by counselor below. We look forward to meeting you and we are excited to work with you and your student throughout the next 4 years! Go Yotes!

Five Campo Verde students raised a variety of livestock projects over the summer to exhibit at the 2020 Arizona State Fair. The livestock shows were changed to a virtual format this year because of the pandemic. Exhibitors submitted videos and still photography of their animals to the fair for judging by industry experts. Congratulations to Taylor Groat for exhibiting the Reserve Supreme Champion Market Hog and the Reserve Champion Crossbred Market Hog! Megan Groat exhibited the Champion Yorkshire Market Hog and the Champion Dark AOB (all other breeds) Market Hog. Regan Goluba exhibited the Reserve Champion Southdown Market Lamb. Emma Foley exhibited her Prospect Market Steer and placed second in class and Nicole Conaway had an excellent class placing with her Dorset Market Lamb. Congratulations to all on a successful State Fair!

1. Stress affects EVERYONE!
-Some may cope more effectively and recover more quickly.
-Stress may be short term or occurrences that continue over time.
-3 Types of Stress: 1). ROUTINE STRESS (every day work, school. etc. 2). TRAUMATIC STRESS (accident, disaster, death, injury, etc) 3). SUDDEN CHANGE STRESS: Stress brought on by sudden negative change (job loss, divorce, illness)
2. Not all stress is bad!
-Can motivate people to perform at their best or "rise to the occasion" (high achieving people feel stress).
-Can be "life saving" in times of danger (brain more "wired in").
3. Long term stress can harm health
-Chronic / long term stress can damage the immune system, digestion, sleep, and reproductive issues.
-Headaches, sleeplessness, sadness, anger, irritable behavior.
-If Long term stress occurs heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and mental disorders can develop.
4. MANAGING STRESS
1. Recognize the signs of stress.
2. GET HELP! Talk to a health care provider.
3. Regular EXERCISE!
4. Relaxing activities (yoga, tai chi, gentle exercises)
5. Set PRIORITIES (what must get done and what can wait).... You don't have to do everything at once!
6. Stay connected to FRIENDS and FAMILY that can provide support and help!
Stay healthy,
Coach Cornell

Check out our latest display, “Real Voices, Real Stories”. This display features books with authors of various cultural descent.
Julio Corrales is taking the Media Technician Internship class. He created these ghost and skull tea lights for the Halloween season. He is now working on requests from other students and staff members. Students can come into the library to speak with Julio or Mrs. Flaherty to discuss printing something on the 3D printer.
The library has charging stations available for students to charge their Chromebooks during lunch.

digital citizenship
*********************************
Digital Citizenship addresses 21st century skills such as: Media Balance & Well-Being, Privacy & Security, Digital Footprint & Identity, Relationships & Communication, Cyberbullying, Digital Drama & Hate Speech, News & Media Literacy.
The Gilbert Public School district uses Common Sense as our resource for information and Campo Verde teachers will be teaching all our students these digital skills from its resources. Common Sense is a trusted site grounded in research with its mission as, “helping kids thrive in a rapidly changing world”. This site also has a section for parents so that you can support your children, no matter what age, with these skills. We recommend that you take a look at it, but we will also use this newsletter as a way to give you resources on these topics. Here is a short video from commonsense on digital citizenship: What is Digital Citizenship?
