Week 7 Term 1 SFDS Newsletter
St Francis de Sales - Wednesday 23 March 2022
MARY-ANGELA'S MESSAGE
ALLERGIES
At St Francis de Sales we have a number of children with food allergies. We have recently talked to all our tamariki about how allergies can affect people differently and the importance eating in designated spaces, not sharing food and washing our hands after kai.
One of our new-entrant tamaiti specifically has a severe allergy to eggs and can have a life-threatening anaphylactic reaction even with minimal contact to egg. To support this tamaiti with their health at school we wanted to share this with you for when you are making lunches.
If your tamariki eat egg or egg products at school, we would appreciate your support to encourage particularly strong hand washing after eating. If you have tamariki in the junior syndicate, we would appreciate your consideration of snack choices when making lunchboxes to reduce the risk to this tamaiti and reduce the amount of reactive medication they require each day.
ROCK YOUR SOCKS DAY
What an amazing day! Together we raised $343.00 to go towards the World Down Syndrome day fundraiser! Check out the video below and see if you can spot any familiar socks!
Thank you for supporting this day!

COMMUNITY NOTICES
The inaugural Metropolitan Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Charity Art Auction to raise funds for the restoration and seismic strengthening of the cathedral is coming together well as we gear up for the launch on Saturday 19 March 2022. The uncertainty around Covid-19 has created the opportunity to move our charity art auction online, so we can reach more people than the original event we had planned. We are new to this but so excited to bring this to you and look forward to your support.
Among the artists exhibiting their wonderful works are Del Te Rito, Charlotte Hird, Jim Gorman, Olympia Osborne, Sonia Treacy, Ellen Donnelly and many more. We are so blessed to have them come on board.
Registering for the auction is easy. All you need is your mobile phone or access to internet on your computer.
The auction will run 24 x 7 from 19 March to 27 March 2022.
If you have any questions, feel free to email mcsh.march22art@gmail.com
The website for the auction can be found: www.galabid.com/art4icon
