Meadow Brook Parent Newsletter
January 2023
Welcome Back and Happy New Year!
Our mission at MBI is to attend to and foster positive relationships with all stakeholders, ensure high levels of learning for all students, and show GRIT every day. We are looking forward to a successful and engaging second semester.

Bronco Leadership Code
Our Bronco Leadership Code is how we recognize our students each month at our GRIT assemblies. Each letter in LEADERSHIP stands for a trait we, as a district, strive to live out. January we are looking for RESPECT and will recognize students at our GRIT assemblies at the end of the month. Parents and families of students who are chosen will be contacted by their teachers and are invited to join us at these assemblies.
5th grade GRIT Assembly: Thursday, January 25
6th Grade GRIT Assembly: Friday, January 26
Worth the Read
PTSO Snack Pass
PTSO sells concessions every Friday (during recess). We have an assortment of store bought snacks. Everything is $1.50. Purchasing a concession pass will get your student 2 snacks every Friday (any missed days, can be redeemed next time). The 2nd semester of school we will have 16 concession days.
Kindness Week/Shirt Order
February 5-9 is MPS Kindness Week! Meadow Brook will celebrate with doing random acts of kindness throughout the week, planned out by our PALS students. More details will be sent out later in the month. We'll also be doing dress up days that week, one of which will be to wear your Kindness shirt, so order today! Shirts can be ordered until January 19 and will be delivered to MBI.

Also, we would love to have you join us at the Auction and Dinner! See the graphic below for details on how to get tickets for this event. We are thankful for your support! Purchase Tickets Here
Final Call for Yearbook Orders
Counselor Update
Over the next few weeks our counselors will be presenting information to our students surrounding the topic of mental health. We recognize that these topics can be sensitive and each student has their own experience and perspective. If you want to opt your student out, please fill out the form below and send it back with your student to turn into the counselors. Copies of this opt-out form will also be sent home through Homeroom.
Author Visit
On January 30th, 6th grade students will have the chance to hear a presentation by New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Nielsen! Nielsen is the author of more than 25 books, several of which have been nominated for the Oklahoma Sequoyah Book Award. Her book Lines of Courage is a current nominee for the 2024 Sequoyah Intermediate Book Award. Families will have the chance to purchase autographed copies of some of her books through THIS LINK. The last day to order Thursday, January 11. Students were sent with the opt-out flyer and ordering autographed books today through Homeroom.
Contact Mrs. Pool at poolj@mustangps.org if you have any questions.
