2022-2023 Classroom Placement—Parent Input
In planning for the 2022-2023 school year, parents are invited to provide information that will assist us in the classroom placement process. Since every learner is unique, our goal is to pair each learner with an environment that maximizes his or her potential. Therefore, balancing classrooms based on gender, special needs or talents, learning styles, and personalities are all factored as we compile class lists. As you can imagine, this is a complex process and a very important one.
We welcome any information you would like to provide about your student in order to assist us in making the best possible placement. Because of the many factors considered when putting a class roster together, requests for specific teachers will not be accepted. Clearly defining the needs of your child will be most helpful in making a good classroom assignment.
If you have information that will assist us in making a placement for your child, please forward that information to me in writing. You may wish to include the following types of information:
Your child’s talents and needs
The type of classroom environment that has been or will be most beneficial for your child
Your child’s personality and learning style
Letters must be received by April 15, 2022 to receive consideration. Letters can be submitted through the Munhall main office, or through an email attachment at Jarrod.Buxton@d303.org.
Thank you for your assistance in this important matter. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 331-228-2600.
Respectfully,
Jarrod Buxton
Principal

Feedback for our Next Munhall Principal
Earlier this week all Munhall parents received a communication, which contained information for how families can provide feedback regarding what you value and what is important to you when it comes to our next principal. We will use this feedback to craft interview questions. I encourage all families to provide feedback, as it will help the team evaluate candidates based on the prioritized values of the staff and parent community.
Evacuation Drill
Student safety is the number one priority at Munhall. Part of the safety plan includes participation in safety drills. Next Wednesday, April 13th students will participate in an evacuation drill. Feel free to ask your child on Wednesday afternoon what they do in case of a fire or need to evacuate. My hope is that all of our students could articulate the procedures and expectations to increase safety and efficiency.
Breakfast for Students
This week we started a new breakfast routine, with students picking up a breakfast in the morning before they proceed to class. Breakfast will still be free to all students for the remainder of this school year. Students do not need to order breakfast ahead of time. We encourage students to arrive at school by 7:45 am if they will be eating breakfast on that day. Students will pick up breakfast in the cafeteria and take it to the classroom to eat. Based on student arrival time in the classroom, they may be asked to eat their breakfast during the morning snack break.

Kindergarteners and Second graders are required to submit dental forms by May 1st. If you have not already done so, please turn in your child’s dental forms to the Health Office as soon as possible.
5th Grade Choir Concert
The 5th Grade Choir Concert will be held on Tuesday, May 3, at 5:30 pm in the Munhall gymnasium. Choir members will meet in the music room at 5:15 and should wear their choir t-shirts and dark colored pants. At this time, the district is asking that the audience continue to be limited to 4 people per musician to best maintain social distancing between families. MunRun2022
We are once again holding our annual MunRun event! On May 10th, we will be taking over the fields of Munhall as each grade will run their hearts out to raise funds for our school!
This year we chose a "Choose Your Own Adventure" Theme. Students will work together to earn school wide rewards and--if we raise enough--will get to write a book together AND SLIME Mr. Buxton!
All School Rewards…
$1,000--ALL School PJ Day
$2,000-- Music/Movie at Lunch
$5,000--Choose your own gym class
$7,500--Tricycle Principal
$10,000--Principal Incentive: Slime
$12,000--Buxton Read-a-thon: Munhall's Book With No Pictures
$15,000--Karaoke Party
$20,000-- Kona Ice Truck Party
We NEED your help to make this event a success. If each family raises $40--just $40 we will more than exceed our goal of $10,000! We can do this if we all work together!
