Message from the Principal
Happy Friday Findley Families,
I hope this message finds you all well. Thank you to everyone who participated in our annual fundraiser! We surpassed our goal. Wahoo! Information about prize pick-up will be shared soon. Also, we had the highest participation rate in the district on International Walk & Roll Day and as a result, our school won a variety of prizes we will be sharing with you soon. You rock, Dragons!
Thank you to those of you who have provided us with some information on how CDL is going for you. We appreciate the feedback and intend to use it to take some action steps. More on that soon. If you haven’t had a chance to submit a response, we’re keeping the survey open for one more week. If you’d like to tell us how it’s going, here’s a link to the form.
We really appreciate all of the support we are getting from those of you at home navigating CDL with your students and we recognize we couldn’t do this without you. I know for many families and learning coaches at home, the natural reaction when you see your kids struggle, is to want to jump in and help. The struggle is often where the learning lies, we call this the productive struggle. School (even though we’re virtual) plays an important role in teaching students about how to navigate various situations independently and what to do when they need help. Think of it like this, under typical circumstances, you wouldn’t be with your child during the day. When they are on zoom, they are in class, leaving them in the most capable hands of their teachers is ok. We will help them learn independence and self agency. It’s what we do! We will take good care of them. I promise.
I also wanted to take this opportunity to share with you a few updates about some of your favorite PTO programming. Art LIteracy lessons will be sent out once a month via Seesaw. Students and families will have access to the lessons and are able to submit pictures of their finished works to be displayed in our virtual gallery! October’s Art Lit lesson was sent out yesterday. Be sure to check your Seesaw app for information. Passport Club will resume for students in grades 2-5 soon. Look for info coming out about how this will work. Lastly, Findley Flyers will also be returning soon. We will be using an on-line recording system called Marathon Kids to track progress towards our mileage goals. Students will be recognized for their accomplishments at our monthly assemblies. Again, more info on this soon.
Speaking of our monthly assemblies, they’re back! Our first virtual assembly was shown to students today during their morning connection time. Ask them what their favorite part was! We have posted a link to the video on our Findley Facebook page as well as right here in the newsletter. Enjoy!
Here’s to a great weekend, Dragons!

OBOB
Hello Findley Knight…
I know many of you have questions about this year’s OBOB program. Well, we do not have all the answers yet. I can tell you there will be no regional or state battles this year. We do not know yet if we will have school battles. We will not make that decision until later this year when we know if we are returning to school. We DO KNOW that Findley has registered and we will receive all the official questions. We DO KNOW that OBOB is still fun, and the list of 16 books are all great books to read. We DO KNOW we will be doing some modified program and acknowledging all the Findley Knights who want to participate. So for now, READ READ READ the OBOB books!!! If you have any questions please contact me. Mrs. Vennes

Dragon Dash Update!
Congratulations Findley! We reached our fundraising goal this year! In fact, we exceeded our
goal by 32% and raised $32,146 and an additional $5,530 in Company Matching. If your
employer matched your donation, please send a copy of the Employer receipt or confirmation
email to dragondashpm@gmail.com.
Additional congrats to Mrs. Arcangel's class who was the first to reach 90% class participation. They will receive a future class surprise! It was a close competition between 2nd and 4th grade classrooms in overall fundraising percentage. Congratulations to the SECOND GRADE students and families for the win! The second grade students will get to choose a book to be donated to the library in their teacher's name.
The Prize Assembly video will be shared with students on Friday, October 30th and a link will
also be emailed to parents. SAVE THE DATE! Prize and t-shirt pickup will be Wednesday,
November 18th. The drive-thru distribution will be staggered by last name and adhere to safety protocols for social distancing. Additional information will be shared closer to the pickup date.
Thank you to all families and friends who helped us reach our goal this year. And to the
amazing teachers who also helped support the cause.
