Willow Parent Bulletin # 19
January 19, 2024
Busy, Busy
When you walk the halls at Willow, there is always a little hum...Wildcats engaged in learning. Whether blending sounds into words or figuring out the calendar pattern in number corner, they are drawn into learning. We are so lucky to have the talented professionals that we do orchestrating all of this!
Next week brings the 100th day of school (Yes! Already!) and Family Math Night. If you signed up for Family Math Night, please plan your arrival carefully. We have lots of attendees, so parking will be at a premium. It's important that you are here no later than 6PM so you have time to hear the logistics of the evening. There will also be a family photo area available at the end of the evening. Cheese!
The following week we have Valentine's Day. Our parties will be from 1-2PM for those PTA volunteers coming to help. If your child is bringing Valentines, he/she/they need one for every child in the class. Please do not buy the ones that come with candy. We do not allow any outside food to be brought in for allergy and safety reasons. Anything that does come to school will be sent back home.
The 19th is Presidents' Day and there is no school.
Thanks for keeping up with the multiple season we experience each week. It's important that your child be appropriately dressed for whatever weather comes our way. We'd appreciate you reinforcing at home that playing in the puddles and mud isn't a great idea.
Communication
If your Wildcat will be absent, please call the Attendance Hotline, before 9AM. It will prevent us from having a robo-call regarding the absence sent to you.
If you are going to pick up your child during the day, please know that we will call him/her/them once you arrive. Often times your child is in the mobile or at the far end of the building, so it takes some time to migrate to the office. Please time your needs accordingly.
At the end of the day, we have approximately 550+ children going different places. Can you imagine? If you are changing your child's way of going home, we need that call prior to 2 PM so we can inform all the people who need to know.
As a reminder, we are always here to help. If you have an issue or concern, please reach out to us in the office.
Reminders:
- Your child should have a water bottle each day.
- Wheels should not be at Willow: bikes, scooters, shoes, etc
- If you arrive after 8:05, you need to sign your child in through the office.
- Partakers of breakfast should be here at 7:45 AM
- Wildcats should not walk to/from school alone.
Positive Office Referrals- Way to go, Wildcats!
Homewood Rotary
Homewood Rotary visited Willow on Wednesday to see how three of our teachers used grant money they awarded. It was fun to show off everything your children do during the day. We are grateful for their support!
Bilingual Parent Education Meeting
Wednesday evening, students and parents who participate in our English Language and Bi-Lingual program spent a fun evening with Liz Smith, the owner of Serendipity Yoga in Homewood. Click the button below to visit her webpage and learn more about the programs she offers for adults and children.
Accidents Happen:
Between the water and mud outside and the accidents that accompany a building full of little people, we are running out of boys pants in sizes 4-10. If you have some to donate, we would appreciate them.
Bulletin Stats:
We had readers in 19 states last week! That's a record. We also had Mexico. Our total number of readers was 424.
