Second Grade Students Learn about Rivers
Second Grade student Stelios Tiniakos shared pictures of an experiment that his class did virtually this week. Students in Ms. Zompa and Ms. Steffan's class have been talking about land forms and erosion in science. For one of the lessons, the students talked about how rivers start at high points and end in large bodies of water. The teachers recorded an experiment with paper, markers, and a squirt bottle with water in it. The experiment can be found on the Mystery Science website. In the experiment, you crumble up a piece of paper and then use markers to color the creases. Next, you squirt water onto the markers. Students discovered that the ink and water flows downward from the creases. This is similar to how rivers flows downward from mountains. Great job, Stelios!
