North High Newsletter
March 2023
From the Principal
Greetings Viking Families,
We are nearing the end of 3rd quarter and students are working hard, staying active and planning for summer/future endeavors. Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled March 23rd. We will maintain the same format as the fall with virtual conferences between 12-2:45pm and in-person conferences from 3-7 in the MPC. Information for scheduling virtual conferences will be emailed to parents/guardians.
Remember that we have free tutoring available 3:15-5pm Tuesday-Thursday in the Homework Helproom located in the School Library. Students also have access to an online tutoring platform called Paper, which they can access through Clever on their district issued iPad. Students may contact their Viking Time Teacher for more information.
In the coming weeks we will continue to practice the Standard Response Protocol (SRP). We will be conducing monthly fire drills, an OPD supported lockdown drill and a shelter drill. Refer to the SRP flyer located below. These practices are consistent K-12 in the Omaha Public Schools. Students and staff are familiar with them; however, ongoing practice ensures that we are ready to implement the protocol when needed.
We appreciate your support with reminding students not to leave campus without permission and not to open external doors for anyone. We have placed signs on every door to remind students that there are consequences for violating these expectations. Safety is our top priority and is everyone’s responsibility!
We look forward to warmer weather, spring sports/activities and all the celebratory events in the coming weeks and final month of the school year. Encourage students to get involved, stay engaged in class and finish strong.
As always we thank you for your continued support and involvement in the Viking Community. If you have any questions, please call us 531-299-2700.
Go Vikings!
