Thank you NCSA and all students/families for showering Nohl Canyon staff with so much love during Teacher Appreciation Week! From Galactic Goodies, generosity of flowers, staff luncheon, force of the 4th, and breakfast treats.. our teachers are truly LOVED!

Close to 100 families participated in the Holiday Skate Center 5th grade Fundraiser! Thanks to NCSA and 5th grade Fundraising committee for providing this great experience!

Thank you to Mrs. Gardner for her leadership with the NC Running Club and OC marathon! Thank you to Brittany McNelly for leading our 5K runners! Great Job to all!!

CAASPP - The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) is the state academic testing program. CAASPP is a system intended to provide information that can be used to monitor student progress and ensure that all students leave high school ready for college and career.

• CAASPP incorporates the Smarter Balanced Assessment Conscortium (SBAC), a standardized test consortium
• Students in 3rd - 8th grade, and 11th grade will take part in the SBAC.
• Students will be assessed in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. 5th grade students will also take the California Science Test

**** Please plan vacations and medical appointments around these dates (specifically 8-10 am each day)

Important reminders:

• Students should have a good night's sleep
• Eat a healthy breakfast
• Bring their own earbuds/headphones (if they have them). School will supply to those who do not have their own.
• NO personal tech devices allowed during testing (this includes Smart Watches, Smart Phones..)

New Cub Scout Pack Coming to Trinity Lutheran Church

Boys and Girls in K-5 and their families are invited to learn more about the new Cub Scout pack coming to Trinity Lutheran Church (across the street from NC). Join them on Tuesday, May 9th at 6 pm for a fun Pinewood Derby activity and informational night...bring your friends too! Items will be collected during the Month of May and can be dropped off in the office OR next to Room 1.

Reminder to all parents - the Absence Hotline is available to leave a message when you know your child will be or is absent for the school day. Please make your absent call prior to 9:00 am on the day of the absence.

When calling, please leave your childs name, grade, and reason for absence

Nohl Canyon is beginning to see more students carrying their own cell phones. Please discuss with your child the guidelines for cell phones/communication devices (watches) while at school:

1) NO CELL from BELL to BELL - cell phones need to be turned OFF and stored in students backpack from first bell to dismissal bell.

2) Students who need to contact parents/guardians are expected to come to the front office to make the phone call.

3) Students who do not follow the guidelines:

1st occurrence: warning - expected to place phone back in backpack

2nd occurrence: cell phone confiscated - Parent Pick-up in office

The KIDS CORNER section of the newsletter will be a place to highlight our Roadrunner Students succeeding in outside activities. Nohl Canyon has a wide range of students in a variety of activities; Dance, Gymnastics, Equestrian, Cheer, Karate, Tennis, Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey..plus many more. If you would like to highlight your child, please send Mr. Jones a photo and description of your child(s).

Finley (K-Gardner) has been skiing every weekend since December and is looking to make the race team in November!

Ava M., Emi K. and Rylee K. joined other Anaheim Hills Girl Scouts and the USO to donate Girl Scout cookies to family members of deployed service people based at Camp Pendleton.
