Winter Wear
In the mornings, students remain outside until 7:45am unless they are eating a school breakfast, which then they can come in at 7:30am. In addition, all students go outside for recess after they are done eating lunch. Unless it is extremely cold (below zero), ALL students are expected to go outside. Students are expected to bring their winter gear with them to the lunchroom, so they are prepared for this.
We continue to require recess through the winter because we find that recess benefits even middle school students by: increasing their level of physical activity; improving their memory, attention, and concentration; and helping them stay on-task in the classroom.
Great Opportunity - Tech Savvy
Saturday, March 9, 2024 | 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Tech Savvy is a one-day conference tailored for girls in grades 6 to 9 and their parent(s), designed to inspire and encourage them in STEM fields. Registration is also open to interested boys. The students who attend Tech Savvy will experience exciting hands-on activities led by professional women in STEM fields. There will be a program for adults to learn more about working in the STEM fields, encouraging their children in STEM, and helping them to prepare for college or technical school.
Limited to the first 117 students and 75 parents/mentors.
Early Release Day - Monday 1/29
We have eight early release days scheduled throughout the school year (see below) to allow for professional learning to take place for staff in our district. Early release Mondays begin at the regular time (7:55 am), but students are dismissed at 1:25 pm.
Remaining 2023-24 Early Release Dates: January 29, February 19, March 11, April 15, and May 13
Self-Testing?
Do you need some COVID-19 test kits?
With sicknesses going around, when people start to feel under the weather, they may want to test themselves to see if they can rule out COVID.
We have multiple COVID at home test kits that have been donated to us, but they all expire this February (next month).
If you would like some tests kits, please call the school office, and we can have them ready for you to pick up or can send them home with your child.

Thank You Again!
For the second consecutive year, Fort Atkinson Middle School has proudly secured the position of the number one middle school among the Badger conference and comparable schools in our area!
But that's not all—we have not only excelled within our conference but have also scored within the top 15% of all middle schools in the state. This achievement reflects our commitment to academic excellence and is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and collaborative spirit that defines our school community.
We are truly grateful for the collaborative efforts of our students, parents, and staff. Together, we are making a positive impact on the lives of our students and the success of our school.
