Message from the Principal
Greetings Findley Community,
I hope you are enjoying the extra day with your family this weekend. We are in full swing here at Findley with lots happening every week. Be sure you are taking time to read communication home from school as you won't want to miss out on all that is happening this month.
In the coming weeks there are several opportunities for you to engage with school, from the Dragon Dash, to the Fall Festival to parent teacher conferences. It has been so amazing seeing so many volunteers back in the building, and I am looking forward to seeing more of you in the next few weeks.
Lastly, in upcoming editions of the Dragon News, we will be soliciting information from you in order to plan a school-wide community event. Celebrating the diversity we have here at Findley is a part of our Let's Be Community initiative and we want to hear from you on how we can do that best. Be on the lookout for ways in which you can share your input.
With Gratitude,
Sherry Marsh, Ed.D.
Principal

OHSU COVID Testing - Findley Pickup day - Thursdays Starting 10/27
Starting October 6, you can enroll your students through a convenient online portal. If you can’t enroll online for any reason, please call OHSU at 503-418-8500 for support. All students who wish to test must enroll even if they participated in last year's program.
Specimens (spit) can be collected either the night before or the morning of a school’s testing day. - OUR PICKUP DATE IS THURSDAY BEGINNING 10/27
After the test is collected, you then will link the test to the student’s LabFinder account.
When the test results are available, you’ll receive an email asking you to log into the secure online portal to view the results.
If you miss your weekly testing day, OHSU has added four drop-off sites around the Portland metro area where specimens can be dropped off between Monday at 6 a.m. and Thursday at 5 p.m.
New pre-labeled test tubes with a scannable barcode will be mailed directly to your mailing address and should arrive within a week of enrollment. Unfortunately, last year’s kits can’t be used, so please throw them away.

Lower Parking Lot Arrival
Please help us keep car drop off a smooth and safe process by remembering these few expectations:
- Please pull as far forward as you can before allowing your child to get out of the car. This helps with traffic flow.
- If your child(ren) can't exit your car on the right side, please park and have them use the crosswalk. Exiting on the left side is dangerous as cars are passing on that side.
- Please follow the guidance of Mrs. Hargrave and Mrs. Cole as they direct traffic. Their goal is to keep traffic flowing and everyone safe.
- Please try not to stop in the crosswalk at any time.
Thank you so much!

2021-22 school profile
A link to our 2021-22 school profile will be posted by October 20 on our school webpage under About Us>School Profile>Oregon Report Card. The 2021-22 district profile is posted on the district report card webpage.
State report cards began when the 1999 Oregon Legislature passed a law requiring every public school and district to receive a report from the Oregon Department of Education about how they are performing overall. The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), signed by President Obama on December 10, 2015, replaces the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act and affords states greater flexibility. ESSA encourages schools and educators to innovate and create systems that address local needs. As a part of this work, the Oregon Department of Education redesigned the School and District report cards to engage and inform families about their school’s approach to learning, academic and extracurricular offerings, and student performance. Reports cards also serve as an important tool for continuous improvement planning by local and state policymakers, in conjunction with the communities they serve.
The 2021-22 school and district profiles include all available data not impacted by the state’s response to the COVID-19. As part of the federal response to COVID-19, all students in our school were eligible for free school meals last year. As a result, our Free/ Reduced Price Lunch percentage is reported as >95%.
At Findley WE are committed to using this information to help tailor our school improvement plans and academic programs to meet the needs of every student. You’ll find our current school improvement plan here: https://findley.beaverton.k12.or.us/about-us/school-learning-plan. During the year I will communicate with you frequently about student achievement and programs in place at our school to foster student learning and success.
If you have questions about our report card or would like a print copy, please contact me. You may also have suggestions for improvements. Please share them! Thank you!
