Principal's Message
Tiger Families,
Lots of excitement around here with the Silent Disco, Egypt day and fun learning experiences with friends. And this excitement will not be going away anytime soon with our LIS Dodgeball Tournament in a few weeks. If this is your first child to go through LIS or you are new to Loveland, beware our Dodgeball Tournament is a big deal to our 5th and 6th graders. Please check out the information below. Our goal is for everyone who wants to participate to participate. So reach out if your student is having a hard time finding a team and let us know if you have any questions.

Dodgeball Tournament Details
The LIS Staff will be hosting our annual Dodgeball Tournament on February 14th & 15th - from 2:15- 3:15pm. Students must be picked up by 3:15.
Game and Signing Up Information:
February 14th- 5th Grade
February 15th- 6th Grade
* Students must be signed up on Final Forms under the activities “LIS Coed 2024 Dodgeball Tournament” in order to participate in the tournament.
*On each of the above days, two teams will be moving on to the finals. The final four will play in the championship games on Friday, February 16th during Tiger Time at school.
*Single elimination tournament. The winning team will move on to the next round. If that game is lost, that team is out.
Team Information:
*Teams must consist of 5th grade students only or 6th grade students only. Each grade level team can have up to ten players and must have a minimum of seven players all in the same grade level. Each team can have one LIS staff member which will count as one of the ten players.
*The cost to enter the tournament is $5.00 per team member. Players will give their $5 to their Team Captain. You can turn in cash or checks made payable to Loveland Intermediate School. Proceeds will be donated to NEST. There are no refunds once the roster envelope (team captain only) is turned in to the office. All money for the team needs to be in one roster envelope. Registration will not be accepted unless the registration envelope is complete with all players paid and all players registered on Final Forms.

Proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the local NEST program and a portion of the funds will be used to purchase new physical education supplies for future tournaments and playground. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Mueller at muelleab@lovelandschools.org

Incoming 7th Grade Family Welcome at LMS
Attention all 6th-grade families whose child will be attending Loveland Middle School next year, please make plans to join the Loveland Middle School administration, 7th-grade teachers, and our student support team on Thurs, 2/8 from 6:30-7:30 PM in the LMS auditorium for the 7th Grade Family Welcome information session. This session is for parents and guardians of current 6th-grade students. During this time, you'll get a chance to hear from the middle school team with details for the 7th-grade scheduling process, meet some of our awesome 7th-grade teachers, ask questions and tour LMS. Students will be receiving scheduling information here at school in the next few weeks and we will have their welcome assembly later this school year.
The information presentation will run from 6:30-7:15 with time allotted from 7:15-7:45 to tour the school and meet with our staff on hand that night. This is a chance for you to walk the halls of our school, take a look in a few classrooms, and hear from some of our awesome staff and current students about their experiences here at LMS.
We hope you can join us! If you have any questions, please reach out to David Knapp, Principal, at knappda@lovelandschools.org or at 513-683-3100. We can't wait to welcome you and your child to LMS!

School Drop Off Procedures
We have seen an uptick in our morning drop off traffic with the colder temperatures and we wanted to take a moment to remind everyone of the drop off procedures. For the safety of our students and purposes of efficiency (and making this process as quick as possible for all of you!), It is very important that ALL people follow these instructions during this busy part of the day:
- For those families dropping off and/or picking up your child from the LIS/LMS campus, you will pull in the main entrance and you will have to follow the line in the picture below before dropping off or picking up your student(s). You MUST follow this line all the way around the back of the building - DO NOT turn left immediately to the front drive of the building. This causes back-ups and unsafe conditions for students walking or riding their bike to school.
- The area where students are dropped and picked up remains in the front of the building. You will pull all the way up in front of the main LIS/LMS entrance before your student(s) leaves or enters the car. PULL ALL THE WAY UP to the end of the drop-off area (designated by signs) before your child exits the vehicle. This allows more students to be exiting their vehicles at the same time and improves efficiency. Please see the pictures below for the traffic pattern and drop-off area locations.
- Car riders, please also be aware that we will have students walking and riding their bikes to school each day. Please be careful and keep an eye out for students crossing the street and driveway around our campus. You can see the marked crosswalk locations in the picture below where students and pedestrians should be crossing.
If everyone follows the process accordingly, we know it to be the most efficient and safe process possible given the volume and our campus layout. We appreciate everyone's cooperation in following the established process for our car riders. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Gifted Testing
The state of Ohio requires that school districts provide an identification procedure for gifted/talented students. However, per the Ohio Department of Education, school districts are not required to serve. Click HERE to learn more about how Loveland serves gifted students. Loveland offers full grade testing in second and fourth grades. If parents/guardians/teachers wish to refer a student for gifted testing outside of the full-grade testing options, referral forms for gifted testing are available from the school counseling office. Robin Purdin can be reached by email at Purdinro@lovelandschools. The referral testing options will take place during November and February. If you would like to refer your child, the form is due to the Loveland Intermediate School counselor no later than February 9, 2024.
